Ditching the Data Plan on my XV6700....

so I came to realize 50 bucks isnt worth it anymore when I rarely use it. I want to get rid of it completely and do the wifi thing like others.
Anyways, I am sure this has been covered numerous times, but when I cancel it out how do I block it, so I wont get under the radar charges or so forth. Thats the last thing I want.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Start>Settings>Connections>Advanced>Selected Networks> Then change the top setting that deals with "Connect to the Internet should connect using:" whatever you have your wifi called such as My Work Network

they cannot contol or monitor your wi fi usage
