How to take off the K790/K800 back cover

So basically, some people are complaining about their camera cover being loose and they ordered a new back, so this is a guide how to take it off and put it back on. Hope it helps.

Okay. So first thing. You don't need any torx tools, that's only for taking off the front and middle, taking the back cover only involves using a micro philips screw driver. Be sure to turn your phone off before doing this

After you have found a micro screwdriver. Take off the battery cover, take out your battery and SIM. Then you will see two screws around the middle (not at the bottom). Take your micro screwdriver and take those out from both sides

Then after you have, take something soft to pry open the back, but don't apply too much pressure. Go around the edge of the cover, leave the top for last, when your done, push the top up because it has hole which you insert it in. Then you are done

Enjoy

Hey that's great. But can you post how to take off the front cover? I would experiment myself but I kinda don't want to break my phone. And in your sig, the phone has blue lights. Is that the k790 or k800. Cuz I would very much like blue lights. Thanks!

Yes, except there will be a front camera hole that is empty unless you somehow swap the mesh.

Is it possible to do this carefully enough such that SE wouldn't know it has been done? I only ask for warranty purposes...

Posted by: hybrid.09

It really depends, what are you trying to do?

Hey, Hybrid...once I get the back cover off my k790a, how do I manually tighten the camera lens cover? Mine is not floppy, but a little tighter would be great!

There is a small silver screw on the lens piece that you screw from the other side of the lens slider, try tightening it a bit and see how it works out.

The video you have requested is not available.

If you have recently uploaded this video, you may need to wait a few minutes for the video to process.

Posted by: hybrid.09

Yeah, have to wait a few minutes/hours I guess Shot with a crappy old S30, since that's the only thing that makes movies besides the K790, I wish my D80 made movies

I have the same security Torx set!

Nice tut, btw!

Hello,

I'm having trouble with the camera sliding part on the back cover. I have just change my housing on the K800i, but the sliding part is very loose and falls off. Do you know what I should do ?

Posted by: RLP06

i thought there'd be some sort of connection from the phone to the lens cover, how does the phone sense when you open the lense cover? light sensitivity?

Posted by: RLP06

Is there any danger of accidently hitting the xenon when you are opening the back? Would it explode?

there is a small bi polar switch below and left of the lens aperture. The sliding
part should be retained by 2 small counter sunk x head screws.
