i got a two quick questions,
from everyones experiences, what is the best regedit at this point? easiest or whatever you may use as critera. also second question, besides paying has anyone found a cure to that ******g xt9? i am tired of it. i know the shortcut, but i want it permanent. thanks guys, i am in 1st grade compared to all of you.

Posted by: JwY

regedit apps are generally pretty similar. i like the resco version personally. as for the xt9, i don't believe there's a solution yet unless you change the rom which is a hassle or wait until t-mobile gives a new one that might address it.

Ok.. found the plugin, now how do I install it?

The file is "tcpmp_aac_plugin.prc" and I can't check the TCPMP site for instructions as it's down for some reason.
I copied the file to the TCPMP folder, but obviously that didn't work, and I can't find any menu for importing in the TCPMP program either..

Thanks

prc is for palm
the files should be in .cab form
i tried looking for you, but my computer is having problems loading a lot of pages for some reason, sorry
they stopped including it since version 0.66 i think, so keep looking for it as it (make sure you get the .cab smartphone version)

The 1800message.com utility app works 'most of the time'. For example, if you run it and disable xt9, then go to type a text message, the abc mode is selected, not xt9. However, if you go to PIE and try to type a URL in the address bar, it starts in xt9 mode (we have no idea why). But if you arrow down to 'History', then arrow back up to the address input, it goes to 'abc' mode again. What we do is set the default text input mode to 'abc' in the registry. The applications are supposed to pay attention to that, but for some reason, the xt9 IME appears to have a bug. Same problem with Contacts. If you go to enter a Contact, the input mode is set to xt9, however, if you hit down arrow from the First Name box to Last Name, then up arrow to go back to First Name, it goes back to 'abc' mode instead of xt9. So, there is clearly something flaky with the way the xt9 IME is acting with the launch of each 'new' application. It appears to ignore the setting until a field gains and loses focus. Specifically, we modify the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME TextInputMode=0 It would be helpful if someone at HTC would log this behavior of the Tegic eT9 IME as a bug. The IME should adhere to the default input mode as set in the registry.

The JogBar functionality of the application works fine tho, so worst case you can use it to change the behavior of the volume/joggr bar.

Does anyone know of a Calendar App that just shows me a quick view of this months calendar (month view) and perhaps I can scroll to next and previous mouths. I use papyrus but you can't set a shortcut key to go straight to the month view. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

can't you press 6 for month? if it wasn't that, it was one of the numbers

Thank you very much,
The joggr runs perfect and I have another friend with the dash also who loved it. I am changing his over also. As for the xt9... the app does kind of a poor job of diasbling it at the moment. I don't know if it has to get set in the different areas of use, but it seems like it always comes back right now. Also I grabbed a regedit from a previous page that was pc based. Way easier to use really simple. Moved things along alot smoother. Thanks for all the help so far guys. I'm already passing on the knowledge.

Try Agenda One.

no question is stupid, do not feel bad.

for backup contacts you must install the ms outlook using ms activesync cd provided with the dash and go from there.

It sounds as though your registry may be locked,

Download the Unlock cab file and then upload to your Dash and simply run the .Cab file.

This will make all of the necessary edits to your registry in order to application unlock your Dash.

any ideas on how to install it?
it says try the cab file but there are liek 10 options and i'm not sure which cab i shoudl be using
any help?
thanks!

I have been trying to change the background of my call screen but I cant do it this is the message I am getting . . .

I am doing this thru activesync > explore > My windows mobile-based device > windows

I have an unlocked , unbranded HTC S620 , and by the way the image im trying to replace is HTC_CallProgressBkg_320x186.bmp I could not found anything else with the CallProgressBkg on it , and its only one image , I will really appreciate any help , im really new to this smartphone scenario , although I have a bit of knowledge on the Pocket PC Platform so If you guys have any doubts I will be happy to help you out (if I know the answer) thanks . . .

Posted by: JwY

neo, what i did was transfer it to another location on the phone like my documents and then use resco explorer to move it to the windows folder. that always works for me to overwrite a system file.

Posted by: rigg419

Am I the only person on earth who likes xt9? I mean sometimes it's annoying, but it remembers stuff I type all he time and I find it really usefull when using PIE. It's also good for text messages IMO, but that's just me YMMV

I got my dash adn everything works fine
i tried the wifi at home with my wireless router and it works great
when i get to school (york) and try to get onto the schools free wifi network
it doesn't really work
normally on my laptop i just open a browser and it prompts me for my schools login/pwd and after entering it the wifi works
for my dash it initially connected to the airyork network, but opening a browser or accessing any of the wifi functions didnt' work even tho it said it had connected to the network
anyone have any idea on how to connect to this network?

i heard it was something due to york's method of login that caused problems. you might need to talk to the administrator at york about it (i recall it might have to do with adding your device's mac address or something along those lines).

Posted by: shames

well i kept trying and i got it to work sort of
i was able to connect to the york network
and it brought up the login page but when i tried to login it just froze like that
does other wifi devices or cell phones interfere with the dash using wifi?
it seems once u fail to connect to one wifi network you have to restart the phone to be able to successfully connect to a different one
anyone have any experience with the wifi on the dash?

Hey does anybody know how to disable the text message sent screen.

Posted by: InauzimA

ok got a question. Now i havent had any real problems with the dash but for some reason, i have about 50 songs on a 1 gb micro sd card and cannot play them on the windows media player. tried playing them directly from the file explorer (locked up) updating library in media player (locked up). i checked all the files and they are fine, if i copy a mp3 from the SD card into my documents, they play. if i have 3 songs on the SD card, they will play. it just does not want to play a lot of songs. there is only 100 mb used on the card and ive tried every thing i can think of. EVEN CALLED TMOB ILE . they are retarded. any way, if anyone has a suggestion please let me know. I know the card isnt bad b/c i can view all my pictures i have on it.

i tried changing the splash image once, but it didn't work (only changed the shutdown). is that what happened when you tried it? i might tinker with it again when i find time. as for the email, i don't think you can. some others asked that, but i didn't read any solutions.

try this registry change:

Disable SMS Sent Notification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settin gs]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:00000001 ->0 to enable, 1 to disable.

odd, what folder on the card did you put the files (ie. how deep)? did you try to copy just to the card and not a folder? usually my files are 2 folders deep.

thats werid becuase mine works fine, I think i might have more than 100 mbs of music on my phone, its sounds weird that those files are locked up i really dont know anything about screwing around with registrys, but those files are not locked on mine, are you selecting the "storage card" in the WMP? or the device? becuase it seperates also try maybe the update library button in the options menu... thats just my .02 hope it helps... good luck

I guess while im on here ill ask a question, first its only slightly irritating but not enough for me to return it, but the dash txt message inbox lists the txt messages really randomly even after i apply the sort by date recieved, nothing changes, i usually have to scroll about half way throu my inbox to find unread txt's any input is appreciated.

Posted by: InauzimA

well im now starting to think that the card may be messed up b/c i wanted to erase everything and start over so i went to format memory card and it did, but then said UNABLE TO FORMAT CARD and now i cant get anything on it. could it be a software issue or bad card?

Posted by: hdotp

anyone ever experience any problems using the wifi?
like other hardware causing interference and causing you to lose connectivity?
Hey JwY where did you see that i have to get york to add my mac address?
i'm going to go to the computer and tech department on monday and see what they can do
i can connect to their network and login and it works for a bit but i get disconnected immediately
initially i thought it was interference from other devices operating on the 2.4ghz frequency but i'm not so sure
also anyone experience having to restart the dash everytime they want to connect to a different wifi network?

it might be the card in that case. did you do this over the phone or your computer? if it's your computer, then the card may be having problems.

are you using a registry editor? google a free registry editor for smartphone if you don't have one yet. you open that SMSNoSent and change the number to 1 and then reset your phone.

sorry, after searching around, it may not be as simple as the mac address. i am fairly sure it is somehow related to the way york implements its wifi login though because other people have been having problems. i would still goto the IT to see if they have a solution

that's really odd.
okay you can try this (at your own risk since i haven't tried it myself or you'll have to wait until someone else can give you a solution)
http://www.surrealnetworks.com/mpx/
goto the registry edits for SDA and look for the cab that disables the SMS notify.
put it on the phone and run it.

Posted by: hdotp

Alright I installed the cab file and it works.
TY Jwy appreciated.

Still wondering why the editor didnt let me do it.

Posted by: JwY

you're welcome, glad it worked out. sometimes these devices like to misbehave.

so are you having problems with reminders going off in general or just the announcing through VC?

you may need a program such as resco explorer. i can't remember if the built-in explorer lets you. if you have a bad card reader, it may end up corrupting cards and causing problems, so you're going to have to be cautious.

it depends on the app. most built-in apps don't have a close option as apps are meant to be automatically closed by the OS. lots of third party apps you install do have exit options within the softkey menus.

So is it possible to stream a sports game on the radio and listen to it on my dash?

I would love to listen to the NFL playoffs

Posted by: JwY

not radio as in the typical radio, but you could do radio over an internet connection. it might be limiting however since edge is only so fast.

Posted by: shackk

try http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/ and see if you can locate the station your looking for to stream from. the national espn afiliate should be broadcasting the games for you to be able to stream to your Dash.

I would like to know how to clean up/ back up my SMS inbox, it really bugs me that it doesn't display them by the correct date recieved, there is no order, you would think new messages would be either at the top or bottom, preferably top, but there somewhere in the middle.

Okay...maybe this has been answered...but I can't find the answer..

-What if I want to dial something like : 1-800-pick-ups...How can I determine the numbers without having to actually figure out which letter belongs to which key?

-Can we create groups on the phone so that each group has a different ring tone? (ie. Family, Business etc.)

-Last, how can we make it so that the new phone number entries are added to the SIM instead of the phone memory?

Thanks!

to answer your first question, go here....http://www.surrealnetworks.com/mpx/DashApps.htm
and it's the first application (called "alpha numeric")
I don't know the answers to your other questions.

You can sort Test messages as you please ...

Go into your "Text Messages" Inbox
Hit Menu --> 8 (Options) --> 1 (Display)

Pick your sort order. I personally like the time/date selected too - Shows time if message was today, and date if not.

Won't clean out your messages, but at least you shoudl get then in some kind of order :-)

NOTE: This applies to all mailboxes - not just Text Messages.

I appreciate the tips and tricks as I am still getting used to my new Dash. There are 2 little things that bother me because they do not work the same as on my cool Razor.
1) There does not seem to be an easy way to tell when I have a voice message except for the brief "missed call" alert. Is there a way to have an icon or something tell me I have voice messages waiting? There is a whole line on the Home screen about text messages and multi-media messages, but not about voice messages.
2) How do I give a name I like to my Dash in ActiveSync? It got named "WM_user" by default and I cannot figure out how to change it. Am I being dumb, or is there some easy fix?
Any help would be appreciated.

When you have voicemail there is an icon that kind of looks like 2 circles with a line connecting it.

Download this pdf, it explains the icons better than the TMobile one:

Posted by: markwrn@rcn.com

Rotero,
thanks for clearing this up for me. I did not know what that tape-recorder-like icon meant. Now I do. It is not in the HTC manual you directed me to. That is really the same manual I got from T-Mobile, less the info about the Joggr, which I was also wondering about. So you helped me with two questions.
Thanks!

I have two issues that just keep bugging me. Maybe I havent spent enought time with my phone but is it possible to have a tone and vibrate when a text message is received. It seems right now I can only have one of them.

Next issue is that when I change my alarm time it will still go off at the previous time and the new time I set it. Like I use to have it at 5:55 a.m and now I switched it to 6:25 a.m. but I still get the wakeup at 5:55 a.m. Also, before I would have a reminder go off every day at 10:07 p.m. that I didnt even setup. That just kind of stopped happening, hahaha. Any help would be great.

PS

I do not know for sure, but typically, IM programs that come pre-installed on devices from wireless carriers use text messages, not data.

Exactly correct, this way carriers do not need to force a customer to purchase any additional data plans etc....

However they can make additional revenue by getting full price text messages costs if customers do not sign up for a text plan and just use the service, which I think carriers should be responsible for not telling the "full" truth.

The problem is when you're setting new alarm times the old times aren't getting cleared out of the notification queue. Install SKTools to clean up the "Notification Queue" (I don't remember the exact steps to follow, but it's pretty straightforward).

Then make sure you DON'T USE the built-in alarm function from then on.

I'd recommend checking out Gentimer, it allows unlimited alarms and includes a world clock, stop watch, and timer all in one application. I haven't had any alarm trouble since using Gentimer.

thanks t-will. after looking into gentimer i will most def be buying it tonight. is sk tool necessary if i already have a registry editor?

also, can i set my fone to ring and vibrate when i receive a text?

sktools is like a cleanup utility, so it's nice to have to clean up your registry once in a while.

you can set it to do both for sms under profiles i believe (if not, then it's sounds).

Posted by: T-Will

Yeah SKTools cleans up the notification database, which I'm pretty sure is'nt part of the registry. So yeah you need to have it.

HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\HTC\Shutdown and

startup accordingly and change WAV to 'none' or to w/e you want

tip i got from xda-developers, when using VC, map to app3 to activate by holding the home key. reset and try it (may take a few times before it starts working).

I just wanted to thank shackk for the radio link- http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/

Very nice while away from the radio.

I own a US t-mobile Dash and recently switched to the HTC ship rom. Everything works fine and is the same except the page up page down reg edit for internet explorer doesn't work(ie #2 page up #8 page down).

I loaded smarttweaker and turned on the feature within that. I also tried surrealnetworks hack for the sda. Non of them seem to work. When I had the original t-mob rom there was no problem.

I don't know if the reg edit is different for the S620 rom but I hate the Jogger and loved the page up and down feature.

If any body has any ideas or the reg hack for this I would be most appreciatve.

Thanks in advance for any answers/ideas

Sync as in do it automatically? Not that i know of, however, if you are just trying to drag and drop, then yes. Connect to the computer using active sync, then click explore.

Posted by: nomistik

Yes, contents in a "sync folder" should update automatically when changed either on PC or Dash. Windows Pocket PC had the capability, I just didn't know if windows mobile had it also or if 3rd party software existed.

That's a good question. I'll have to play around with my dash to find out. I'll post more when i do it, but i dont have time right now.

If you have knowledge of editing the .xml code then yes you can edit the homescreens on your computer. Pull the .xml file from your phone of the screen you wish to edit on to your desktop and then edit in note or wordpad.

Microsoft has afree XML editor called XML Notepad 2007

Can anyone tell me why my clock speed doesn't stick with OMAPclock? I keep having to update to 240, only to check later and see that it is back to 186! It never seems to stay put EXCEPT maybe if I have the phone plugged in. Is this a 'feature' I don't know about?

Hi there. Can anyone tell me what is a "registry" and how I can hack it with all your useful information? I just got my DASH an hour ago!

Posted by: Prom1

Congratulations PuffyPink.

I'll take a laymans terms stab at your question.

> The Registry is a subcomponent of the Operating System that is common in all Windows OS'. Just like your WinXP computer, your DASH will "register" all installed programs and how their feature sets can be accessed by other programs & information shared or limited. It'll take note of when the app was installed, version, settings initial etc. Any conflicts an application has on the OS weather it runs or fails to launch can be best handled by editing the registry.

I dont fully understand it myself > but I hope I"m close to its definition > somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Posted by: Puffypink

Hi POst1. Thanks for the information. Now how do I get ahold of that application?

When I receive an email, other than subscribing it to Tmobile to send a SMS alert when I do receive email, the phone does not alert me when I do get one? Then why do we have the counter on the homepage for email/MMS messages? Does this mean I will have to actively, manually check for new emails? What is Direct Push?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks to everyone.

no you don't need to actively check. it's there incase you miss a few or don't answer them right away. you can change the alert in settings, profiles i believe.

Hello all 1st post here,

I have spent some time and read through all these interesting posts. While trying all of the registry hacks that have been posted in this forum, there is still one rock left unturned that someone else posted on.

This has to do with the jog button in a call. The most annoying feature of the phone is when you hold the phone up to your ear, your cheek will adjust the volume in the call. Think its no big deal! Well your right unless you are unable to adjust the volume back up when you are in a busy location. i.e. airport. Quite odd this only happens when i really want the volume to go back up.

After playing with all setting for the volume touch strip i finally disabled it solving my problem until i need to mute the call from ringing.

HOW DO I GET AROUND THIS?

I need to be able to mute the call, not ignore, without having to pick up. Please help with this issue.

Thanks in advance

Hi JwY. Thanks for the info. Are you mixing me up with another member? I am new to this forum. However, I did transition from SE W850i to the DASH. Still trying to figure out which plan to go for. I need it mainly for email and internet. From reading about 80pages worth or threads, I am getting dizzy.....any advice?

you mean the SE comment? that was for prom.

i know, it's built up to a lot of pages and i don't want to sort through it either. what i like to do with a new device is learn all the basics of it first. i do this by running it with fairly minimal add-ons or changes. by all means set up your settings and preferances however (one important part of this is making sure the hardware is good). once you start to get familiar with it, read around and add applications and so on, don't overwhelm yourself. the problem with smartphones is a lot of new users get frustrated. by spacing things out you learn to appreciate devices more as well as understanding the strengths and weaknesses. also search the forum -- sometimes it's better to search by post or search in the thread with the top right search in the thread itself. i tend to do things more spread out when i add apps or make registry changes just to make sure there's no adverse affects. if there is, i immediately know what the culprit is. if you're experienced with the platform, you could probably get right into it. just take your time and enjoy -- if you can't find an answer, then post it and people will try to answer it if they can.

Who do you have your push email set up with?

It sounds like you have set it up through the "set up email" icon on your phone or through Tmos website which is sending you the text alerts to your phone. To disable it you will have to delete the account from Tmo and set up Push Exchange email from another provider such as Mail2Web.

Maybe someone can help with this... i have been reading these post and can not find the answer. I have been trying to install the sms threader on my phone. I have the threader on my phone but it will not open i get the message that it requirs a newer version of Microsoft .NET. i have installed that twice. Can someone give me the website to where they got the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework. And give me some step by step instruction on how to put these programs on my phone becaue every program i have tried to install on my phone will not open.

Here is the MS site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en

You need to application unlock your phone if you haven't already. There is a sticky in the T-Mobile - mobile forums here at Hofo that can provide you information on how to do so. There is also a lot of other valuable information in that thread.

You could hard reset the device, by turning off, hold the two softkeys and press and release only the power button while still holding the softkeys. A black screen will show up stating to continue press send. Click on send and it will reset your device to the way it came out of the box.

You will lose all of your data by doing this so I hope you have backed everything up.

Quick answer: Yes....and No.

Why: Mail2Web push services are free however you will have an email account set up as xxxxxxx@mail2web.com and you would have to either forward all of your email to that address for real time delivery or change your email address to a mail2web domain. Now if you want to change your email address then yes everything is free and you can stop reading.

Now if you want to keep your existing email address such as xxxxx@gmail.com. You would have to pay $1.99/mo for their premium service. This would allow you to spoof the mail2web address to whatever you want as long as you own the spoofed address. So you could forward your gmail account to mail2web. Receive your email to your device real time and reply and to the receipient it would look like you are replying from your gmail account. If you dont pay for the service your receipient would see xxxxxxx@mail2web.com.

If you solely want to use the address just so you could view your email real time then what I would suggest is to forward your email to your mail2web account but check the option to keep your forwarded mail on the original server (Gmail has this option) and then you can view your email real time for free and then reply from your account when you get back to your computer.

Hopefully that makes some sense and gives you a couple of different options.

With the paid or premium service you can also sync your calendar, notes, and contacts to the mail2web server so it works well as a back up in case you lose your phone, break it, etc...

Let me know if you have questions.

Yeah it does make sense, and thanks again for all the info. Now I need to head over to bellsouth.net to see if I can forward my mail to a different account.

I wanted to know if anyone had a fix for the following problem. I bought an unbranded HTC excalibur and am using with cingular. The problem is in the emial function. I am using an exchange server and when I get an email I get a message that says to click here to download the rest of message. When I click that it tells me the message will download next time the phone syncs. So when I press menu to hit the send/recieve button it is grayed out.I have to go back 2 screens and hit the active sync button to get the rest of the message a little bit of a pain. But this isn't like this on other WM5 machines or the dash branded from T-Mobile.

Is there a fix. I contacted HTC and they told me I have a unbranded version.
Can anyone help

Yes it is called Opera Mini (www.operamini.com) Download and install that browser to your phone and then use it for Myspace browsing. It is a well known issue that PIE (the browser built in to your phone) and Myspace do not play well together for some reason.

i've had my dash since october, and this week i tried to use the aim program for the first time. i am unable to get the application to work. when i attempt to log on, i receive a text message that says:

WV11RL1 ST=(200,"Successful")
SI=1.1Ax5fb3cd790b1287db69450b12365e7
CI=wv:J2ME.OZ#zpxX@HTC.DASH KA=60000

then if i go back to the aim screen, it appears to log me on, but then my phone immediately displays "communication error. please try again or check settings"

i've tried about 10 times since sunday, and i keep getting the same result.

any ideas why i can't use the aim? or what the text message and/or error message mean?

thanks.

All Windows Mobile 5 phones have voice tags. To use this feature simply navigate to a contact (or start menu shortcut). For contacts, open the contact. Then hit the right soft menu key and scroll down to "Add Voice Tag".

This is different than voice dialing (although often the terms are used interchangeably). To get Voice Dialing you need to purchase Microsoft's "Voice Command" (version 1.6) for Smartphone.

It is b/c it's not a phone contact. You have to use the sim manager to convert sim contacts to phone contacts, but it won't erase them.It just copies them into the phone book. The only problem is the dash shows both sim and phone contacts in the contacts menu.I've tried to find a way to hide the sim contacts, but no such luck.I went to a T-Mo store in atl and they said there was no way to hide the sim contacts, so I have double of all my contacts in the menu(phone book and sim).If anybody knows of a third party software to help manage sim and phone contacts please let me know

I don't believe it's possible. I think the most often you can set it is to update every 15 mins. if you had it updating constantly, it would kill your battery in record time.

i've restarted my phone a few times and it still doesn't work. i don't want to do a "hard reset" tho...i have too many apps and customizations that would be a pain in the ballz to re-install.

thanks for the suggestion, tho

If you are looking to change the frequency and size options of downloaded emails, all of those setting are found the active sync>menu options. Got to 2 Schedule for the time intervals with your exchange server and go to 1 Options>highlight email under exchange server>then chose settings and you can chose from the variopus options. This can also be done thru your pc when you have an active synce connection under tools>options>settings>highlight email> and then settings. On the pc you can also set the size/options for attachements.

EDIT: I didnt read the thing about the text message, when i first had my dash my aim didnt work i could sign on and send ims but i could not recieve them, i then set up my mobile settings on my computer and it worked, sounds werid because it says your client is a computer but it does.

yea, i don't know why my phone is wonky when i comes to aim. one of my friends has a dash that has all the same 3rd party apps as mine, but he's never had a problem with aim.

weird...
oh well, if my aim worked, i'd probably almost never use it...but now, i take it as a personal challenge to my manhood. this machine will NOT beat me!

thanks homobile. that worked. Now what I need to do is copy the contacts onto my comp so I have a "hard" copy somewhere besides the phone. is there a way to do it besides through outlook? I don't have outlook installed at home, I just want to basically cut and paste to a word or notepad doc, or the equivalent.
thanks~

Try the manual - section 1.5 has a list of most of them.

sorry for the noob question but how do i select multiple items on the dash ? like when i want to send a text message to multiple numbers?

i used the search function in the threads to search it but didnt come up with nothing

Posted by: JwY

there's no way i know of right now. you're probably going to have to add the contacts one at a time in the "to" field. i don't even know if they fixed this for wm6.

Did you just purchase this and it is happening? How long have you had it?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? It could just be a very minor issue which a hard reset might fix for you.

The entry I believe you will need to change is: go to HKLM>Hardware>devicemap>keybd and then look for CurLang>double click and change the value data from 1033 (which is the US Keyboard) to the Russian keybd layout. I will not be able to help you with that number. If no one responds here, try posting a question in the Excalibur section in xda-developers as that tends to have more of an international group of contributors.

Thank you for the answer, but unfortunately it doesn’t work. Default value CurLang is 0x419(1049), it’s Russian keyboard. I tried to change it to 0x409(1033) whereupon I got 2 English keyboard layout.

Posted by: john1027

Are you sure the registry change stuck? Have you unlocked the device?

Posted by: SantaS

Yep, originally CurLang’s value was 0x419(1049) in my registry, so it looks like I don’t need to change it, because it should work already and main keyboard should be Russian. But it doesn’t…

Could someone please tell me how to app unlock my phone i have added the registry editor but im not sure how to make these changes HKLM>Security>Policies>Policies value = 0000101B DWORD = 1

Hey I was on a webpage and I was scrolling up and down using the E and C buttons. and sometimes I would push those buttons and it would take me all the way down to the page or all the way up by itself. Is there a trick to this or what because I would like to use it.
thx.

There is no option for me to record a voice tag against a contact. All my contacts are stored on the phone and not the sim - I am able to add photo's but not voice tags. WM5 I-Mate Pocket PC Phone Edition.

Thanks in advance

wrong thread. it also depends on your model -- it might not be built-in.

The same thing happens to me with the unlimited data plan occasionally.Usually it's b/c edge network is down. When you get the error message do you have an antenna or the E in the top right corner?

Does anyone know how to set the audio volumes on the Dash higher than the factory max, via regedit or third party software? I feel even when set to max the phone is not loud enough. I'm looking to tweak all available audio including the BT speaker volume. I searched everywhere but haven't been able to find anything. I was able to find the audio gain in the registry but I don't know exactly which keys to change or what value to change them to. Thanks in advance.

Posted by: dsigma6

audio gain is on here:

http://surrealnetworks.com/mpx/DashApps.htm

Posted by: brevi

yeah I saw that before. but I thought that only dealt with the mic gain issue that some people were having, if so, I don’t have the problem. does it allow you to control all audio gain like allowing you to set speaker volume higher than factory settings?

I read this entire thread and couldn't find the answer: Is there a text viewer that will allow me to do keyword searches on the Dash? I know that ClearVue won't do it. I want to be able to carry policy papers on my miniSD card and be able to crib off them while I'm in meetings outside the office.

My old PDA was able to do this with PocketWord. Thanks.

Posted by: jmetcalf27

coolio, you should have done a keyword search of the forum...

I think Vieka WordPad has your answer. once you install it use Edit/Find.

Sorry for the noobie question, but I only use the wifi on my s620 and use my internet based school email address.. Outlook always pops up even though I never use it and dont even have it set up, is there any way to disable/uninstall outlook? Also, is there any feature on the dash that remembers usernames/passwords?

Cheers!

Just tried it but I think you have to pay for Opera 8 or else it sucks. Or use opera mini which is so-so.

There is a trial period, if you have had opera installed before that trial period is over.

where can I get a modem driver for the htc s620 dash from t-mobile, where I could attach to the usb port on my laptop, so I can access the internet, we are rual and dial-up is the only thing available.

Posted by: cwooley

How do I use the dash htc s620 as a modem to connect to my laptop? Can I do it w/o using bluetooth, like in the mda?

You'll need to use a bluetooth Personal Area Network connection (PAN). First pair the phone with the laptop. Next, on your phone, go to programs/accessories/internet sharing, and choose bluetooth, then connect. Now, on your laptop, right click the bluetooth icon and choose connect to device. This probably isn't the exact wording, but it will get you close. If you have trouble, search for PAN and Bluetooth.

I use PAN to share the internet with my CarPC, which is MacMini running XP. It works great, I just with it was automatic like the old DUN setup.

Edit: Oops, I just read your post again and noticed you wanted to do it without bluetooth. Sorry man. I seem to remember seeing a usb option in the internet sharing program on the phone. You might try that.

You don't need a driver!

Posted by: T-Will

1. Plug one end of the USB cable into your laptop and the other into your Dash (connect it as a guest if you want).

2. Go to Start -> Accessories -> Internet Sharing and choose USB then press Connect.

3. That's it!
