Go into your IE settings and make sure you set it to use "The Internet" opposed to GSM/GPRS.

I can connect to other hotspots that i tried but for some reason not my own router at home, i cant even connect to my network even without password.

however i did noticed that when i had 2 pocket pc's that with windows mobile 5.0 installed, i couldnt go on the wifi but once i used WM2003 it connected easily. Could this be the same problem? if so, how can i fix this, i wanna use wifi so bad at home. My other products use the wifi at home fine ie: psp/laptops/friend's smartphone.

I have a Linksys router at home, and I have such a hard time staying online, I connect fine, but after a few minutes I have to restart the conection... wich is annoying, when I connect to my office cheapo belking router I never have a problem... is there something I need to set up on my Linksys?

solution: update the drivers on the router and all set... problem fixed

Rogers never had the S620 unless you mean the HTC ROM.

You can get the phone CID unloked and then you can flash it with an HTC
S620 ROM.

You have to pay some one to do it. There is no free way that I know of to get it CID unlocked. It costs areound 40.00 to get it unlocked online.

Guys, as I cannot load any of my own apps onto my SPV E600, I searched the Orange site and came up with the following from Orange.

"Orange’s policy on its SPV Smartphone range (the ‘C’ series SPV’s) is to ‘lock them down’ to prevent any unauthorised software being loaded onto them. This means that it is not possible for customers to load the public part of self generated certificates onto these handsets. This means that customers will be required to purchase as recognised certificate as discussed above

Please note that the SPV ‘M’ series devices (which are Windows 5 PDA devices) are not locked down and do not face any of these challenges."

This would explain why I had no issues with my SPV M600 but my E600 is currently useless.

I also found this on the web.

"Question: From a software deployment point-of-view, how is the Orange SPV phone locked and why?
Answer: Windows Powered Smartphone includes a X.509 based applications security model which allows operators to optionally require applications to be digitally signed prior to installation and execution on devices. The Orange SPV has applications security enabled, making devices "locked" to unsigned applications. For these locked devices, mobile operators engage public trusted authorities i.e. Verisign or Baltimore (certificate authorities) to digitally sign applications before they are installed and executed on devices on their networks"

So, it seems I need to find a solution to this 'locking down' issue. However, I am not sure if getting the phone unlocked such that I can use other sims is actually going to fix the problem above. Is unlocking and a locked down phone the same thing?

Can anyone advise?

1. the original headphones are weaksauce. buy an adapter and use your own personal headphones. (provided you have some better than those crap apple earbuds)

2.dash does not accept micro sdhc cards (2+gb), only micro sd (2gb) and below.

I meant without the headphones plugged in, the volume is really low. But if i have it on the loud profile and someone calls me its so much louder.

I concur with VRUS.

This device only supports non HC micro sd cards and i thought all 4gb micro sd cards were HC formatted so it ain't gonna work.

I would like to be proved wrong as i'd love a 4gb micro SD card.

Huys, I have TomTom 6 which works fine on my Nokia 5500 (S60 3rd edition phone) and my Orange SPV M600 (WM5). However, it does not work on the Excalibur.

During my investigations, Wayfinder have said their product will not work but Route 66 said it would (using Mobile V7 WMS version) however, anyone have experience of this as I was not too convinced by the young lady in India on the route 66 helpdesk.

Are there any other options worth looking at bearing in mind I am in the UK.

Just installed this and it works great. In fact, it's certainly on a par with TomTom 6 if not better. The real benefit however is that it works on the S620 where as TomTom 6 does not.

I finally got a working (on the Dash) TT copy and the issue is that you can't navigate the program's menus as you lose the UP/DOWN keys. Apart from that..TT works.
I have also experienced Route66 but I consider it much less competent in working with POI's (I can't add new poi's). Also, it is a much more rigid piece of soft.
Both navigate OK...times to initiate navigation similar...response, similar maps also...if you don't need to add your own poi's go for R66

My 2 cent's

I gave up with TomTom 6 as it's not designed for smartphones. Had real problems using it so I bought Route 66 and have been much happier with it.

Having used TomTom for years I was a bit nervous about going over to Route 66 but I should not have been. It's accurate, very quick to re-calculate routes and very easy to use.

I was never happy with TomTom customer support either. They make it very hard to transfer to another device (I know there is a lot of hacking going on out there) but they still made me feel like a criminal.

So, I have a pocket PC with TomTom 6 on and the HTC S620 with Route 66 and they both do the job very well.

Much prefer the HTC device though

Hi. My friend has a DASH. She says that she gets her text messages hours later then they were sent and receives a bunch in groups. She has gotten refurbished phones as replacements from TMobile because of her warranty for various problems.

Basically, does anyone know about this problem?

Is there a way to reset to firmware or reset the phone completely?

hey guys i just picked up my t-mobile dash i heard that you can put nintendo and sega games on it. i got vague instructions on how to do this and followed them the best i could. long story short i put pocketnesterplus and i can't get the games to work. after a few tries i decided to forget it, but now i can't delete pocketnesterplus off the phone.
anyways if some can help me by giving me a detailed "how 2" on getting nintendo on my dash i would really appreciate it.

First off let me say thanks for everything i've read so far, and will continue to learn in the future. After I read about the dialpad hack here, i poked around and found the windows mobile green startup screen (windows\ms_splash.png) and wound up editing it for a few hours in photoshop. Problem is when i replace it on the phone it still loads the old start logo (even after a phone reset). Same file name, dimensions, and attributes but to no avail. I've searched around these forums and others with no real solution. Also poked around in the registry and found nothing that points to this file, but its the only one that has the startup logo in it. I know of the hack to change the TMO startup.gif and TMO shutdown.gif animations. But not the Windows Mobile green screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance,

Dear All, have you ever been embarrassed when your headphones get pulled out of your S620 and you submit your fellow commuters to a rendition of your favourite music?

To make matters worse, when the device is locked, it takes a about 5 seconds to reduce the volume or to fumble and replace the headset connector back into the device.

Is there a way for the sound not to automatically go through the speaker in such instances?

Make sure the address you are at is m.facebook.com and then on the bottom of the login page you will see a link that says somthing like
"need help logging in, try the HTTP login." Click that link and try logging in again.

I am a Canadian Fido sim user and I just purchased the Tmobile Dash. Any way to get the tmobile upgrade to Windows Mobile 6? I unlocked it using Newmobilefreedom.com and it works great.

Is there a way to hide the Start/Contacts buttons on my T-MO Dash? I think they waste screen space, and don't look good on the iPhone skin that I'm running, or any skin actually. I don't need the home screen to say Start/Contacts to know what the function for those buttons are.

No the update is free to download from the HTC website but in order to install it you have to either have a CID unlocked phone or bypass the CID lock.

It appears that site is only for Sim unlock. For CID unlock, you can use the bypass I posted here or if you don’t want to take the risk of the bypass, use a site like IMEI Check to both SIM and CID unlock your phone.

That splash is most likely burned in ROM. You may have some luck finding your answer on the xda-developers.com site.

hey i don't know if there has been any recent update to this, but i recently got my dash and tried the $5.99 tzones hack and it worked fine for about 2 days, then my messages stopped working. I don't know if it was related to it or if i screwd up on the sms settings or something, but then i resetted my phone and my txt msgs started working again, but only for a few days. so right now i have the $5.99 plan and the unlimited txt msgs but the internet doesnt work and the workability of the messages comes and goes. can anybody help me with that...

I have had my Dash for about 11 months, and it is starting to fall apart

The little cover over the USB port has started to come off, only a small amount of plastic is holding it together, and then today I noticed one of the little rubber plugs on the back has fallen off to reveal the "void" tamper evident sign. I did not attempt to remove it, it just fell out in normal use.

These are all minor/cosmetic, but the real problem is the battery is weakening significantly. I used to have two full normal days on a charge, now I sometimes have less than 25% left after one day. If I use the wifi or music function much I cannot make a full day anymore.

Any suggestions other than buy a new battery?

You can try a few of these tips:

Essentially retrain your battery by trying to fully discharge it as fast as possible and then fully charge it.
Don't charge your battery until it is completely dead.
Try and keep your phone out of extreme heat or cold.
If possible charge your phone while talking on it for any phone call after an hour.

All in all though after a year is when your typical Lithium-ion will start to have shorter and shorter cycles and the only option is replacement unfortunately.

Next month my Dash will be a year old and the only thing that I can complain about is the case it came with is falling apart. Well... I take that back... Around May of this year I had to have it replaced under warranty when it slid off my lap onto the center console of my car (less than a foot drop). I guess it fell "just right" as it cracked the screen

Anyway.. as I've stated in another thread, I wish that someone who has a dash with WM6 could send me the taskmanager exe from it as mine has gotten deleted and now I can't kill any running processes

If you can help with the above, let me know and I'll supply my email, etc...

Buy a battery, they're like $20 with shipping. I think I found one for $12 at a electronic shop that sold cell batteries. It's totally normally for a battery to not keep the same charge after a year or so - not much you can do about it. There's plenty of tips and tricks (as mentioned just above this reply) but I have yet to have any of them work significantly. Once, on my razr my battery was doing that... after I reflashed my ROM the battery lasted longer - go figure - but was no where near like when it was new. Prior to the reflashing, it would last about 20 minutes tops.

I just got myself an Unlocked T-Mobile Dash, I'm currently on Fido/Rogers. I am able to browse the web when I am connected to WiFi using IE or Opera, but when there is no WiFi available, how is it that I can get the phone to hop on GSM/EDGE/WAP (Not quite sure) for browsing? Do I need to configure the Rogers/Fido server in the phone so it is aware of this?

Yeah I figure the battery replacement is the answer, but it pieves me to think the battery does not outlive the contract

I think the Li-ion batteries are rated in charging cycles and I charge the Dash daily, while my previous cell phone was weekly. I guess that is just the price I will pay for wifi and all the other PDA goodies in WinMo.

I have a HTC S620 and I am on Cingular. I am trying to use he Tethering thing and have the basics done but I still can't get it to work. Can someone point me in the right direction for a walk thru...

I already have the internet working on the phone. I messed around with a couple of other settings, but still can't get my laptop to go on the net while connected to the phone.

If you have internet on your phone and can browse then you should be able to enable "Internet Sharing" under Accessories unless when you try to browse you have no signal strength or something similar...

Hey guys, I got my T-Mo Dash about a month ago and am pretty impressed with it. I'm coming from a SE 810i which i still miss sometimes (i.e picture quality), but for the most part I'm happy with it! I've read posts here and there in this thread and haven't come across this little tip. If it hasn't been mentioned great, if it has, i apologize for it

To switch profile to 'Meeting' just press and hold the "A" (#) button. Keep an eye on the profile, and you'll see it switch.

Create a text file (probably would be easier on your PC) named "Task Manager.lnk" containing the following line:

30#\Windows\IA_Task_Manager.exe?TaskManagerApp

Copy the file to the \Windows\Start Menu directory on your Dash. If you are using Resco File Explorer on your Dash you might set the file permissions to Read Only (highlight the file, Action -> Properties, check the Read Only box).

I believe you have to purchase a data plan from your carrier. Then switching between WiFi and EDGE/WAP/GSM is automatic.

ahh that sucks (about flash).. tho FlashLite 3 should be coming out soon and i heard it should support pretty much all flash content

I wanna thank you all for your posts, tips and tricks. I really enjoyed reading all 45 pages. Solved some problems used some hacks and created a new Home screen everything in one day. What I havent been able to solve is changing the In call background, but im starting to think it has to be something with rogers rom (anyone knows how to manage permissions, cant do that).

I just got my s621 with which i did NOT buy a data plan since the phone does have wifi ... as I was researching how to disable data access through the rogers network i read that it can be done simply by deleting those connections in the GPRS connections setting which i did and all is well ... web browsing no longer works unless wifi is on which is great BUT ...

outlook wont work now ... and i assume it's because the "push" technology uses the gprs network? am i wrong? i just wanna be able to check my email not using a webmail interface through a wifi connection can anyone help?

I have some text message conversations on my phone that i need to print out, or at the very least transfer to my computer. I see that I can transfer messages to the SIM card, but not to the SD card. I have the phone plugged in to the computer but I can't find anything when I explore the phone. I don't have any mods or applications installed other than what the phone came with. TIA for the help.

Skype for Smartphones works the very best on the S620 and S621. It can be had at http://www.skype.com/download/skype...e/download.html. It is free for Skype-to-Skype and only $29.95 US per year for unlimited calling to any phone in the US and Canada.

Make sure that you are not connected through your providers data service unless you are fortunate enough to have an unlimited data plan (sorry Canada!).

Is there a way remap Opera Mini 4 to the T-Mobile button (the pink button on the bottom right of the keyboard)? Are there any programs for use in Windows Mobile 6 and on the Dash that can do instant messaging without using text messaging? I have an internet plan for T-Mobile, but not a text messaging plan. Check out Palringo (http://www.palringo.com) It is free, supports many providers and uses data only.....not text messages.

Does anyone know if there's a reg hack (or something else) to get the "#" key to switch profiles from normal to vibrate on the HTC Rom? The T-Mo Dash ROM does this, so i know it's gotta be something in the registry that can be changed to enable this.

ok i have a big problem with my HTC S621 (same a S620/Excalibur).

It's like it's stuck in some sort of read only mode. I can't synch anymore at all, i can explore the phone but can't copy/move files on it, and on the phone itself i can't change any settings, at all. It will give an error if i try to open any settings and if I try to switch profiles it won't, it is stuck on outdoor.

Does anybody have any idea as to what is going on?

I have never heard of that before. Did you try to reset it?

well I managed to fix it, incredibly annoying, had to reset the phone to it's factory settings.

I was even going to reflash the rogers firmware on it but the damn thing wouldn't let me as it couldn't even read my phone. Thank god resetting to defaults fixed it.

[1]Is there a fix yet to make the "recent apps" list a fixed list with the apps you want there all the time?

[2]What's the easiest method of re-arranging the start menu items and/or removing some?

[3]WIFI is pitiful at my house right next to the router--what could be the problem? I've connected at plenty of other places.

Greetings to you all. First time poster, avid reader. I have just finished reading this entire thread and have a couple questions.

I am using a s621 running Windows Mobile 6

Question #1: When using internet explorer, is there a way to save pics to your devise and/or storage card? Before this phone I was using a SE W710I that had picture saving capabilities. It's hard to imagine that a smartphone is not capable of saving images from the internet.

Question #2: I installed Flash lite onto my devise in order to use it as a flashplayer on the web. Whenever I go to view a flash animation or video, I get the following message, "Flash Lite 2.1 for windows mobile 5 will support flash 7 content authored for mobile devices only". Perhaps I misunderstood the purpose of this program? If so, could someone please enlighten me as to what its purpose is?

Question#3: I would very much like to view videos on youtube, google video, megavideo, etc. Any help in finding and installing the appropriate programs would be greatly appreciated.

I recently downloaded mobile 6 from t-mobile. My dash has been acting crazy ever since. 1. It used to do downloads, now it says "downloads not allowed"
2. the phone keeps shutting down, when I get on the internet or sometimes just using camera, or even while talking on the telephone.

Any advise?

Hi, I have problems with my Dash, the problem is that I cannot start it, because I deleted some programs. When I start my Dash, show the HTC page, and later appear the windows mobil page, and later it reset , and it do it again and again. I guess that if I will reinstall the windows mobil it will be work again, but I don´t know how to do it, I hope that you can help me, Thanks.

Try to start your Dash without the memory card in it. That seems to solve the problem for many people in terms of the phone restarting over and over again.

hey all, i recently been having problems with the alarm on my phone. if i set it to 9:30am lets say on monday then on tuesday i set it for 6:30 , the 6:30 alarm goes off then hours later the previous 9:30 goes on also. quite frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get yourself Opera Mobile for WM 5. It runs smoothly, being able to open and manage multiple windows, and save pictures. I re-installed it today once I flashed to the new WM 6.1 and still works fine. The 6.1 OS has a new IE, which is much better than the last being able to zoom out, and set a home page among other things, but there is a new mobile browser being developed that should beat both by allowing for Flash, and other scripts to provide real web browsing, and embedded media play.

I forget the details on who, what, but I can re-post once I look it up. I signed up to receive the second beta which should be running soon.

We all probably have had it; I know I have had it, too. You can try to set it to 6:30 am, then turn it off. Then proceed to repeat the same for 9:30. If this works the next time you set the alarm and you do not need that time anymore you should set it again and turn it on and off in order to cancel that alarm. There is a longer procedure with downloading software and accessing the registry in order to delete the various saved times. It is a bug within the OS that they have never send updates for. If that does not work then you would have to restore the entire phone unfortunately. I have had to do it about 2 times. I got the new 6.1 OS and haven't tried to see if that will have the same bug, too.

No problem.

1. The 6.1 is a new operating system for WM ppcs and smarthphones. If you have bittorrent, you can go on piratebay and look it up, other than that visit the xda developers forum and download it. It provides a smoother operating system with more features and for the dash scrolling and touch features using the jogger pad. I have had it for two days now and absolutely love the new interface.

2. Yes, opera mobile 8.65 works I re-installed it, as well as the T-Zones plan.

Ye Im having the same problem none of the Applications on my Excalibor close if its idle for more than 3 seconds..are there any fixes for this?

So I hacked a couple of things on my dash and forgot to back up the PhoneBKI1_Land, PhoneBKI2_Land, and BackgroundImage_Land in the windows folder, when changing the pictures and now want to change them back to the original ones I was wondering if anyone could get them from their t-mobile dash with WM6. If someone could post those up or get them at me that would be great thanks.

I have the T-Mobile Dash and I don't know if this is different for an HTC S620 (unbranded), but here is what I do:

Press Start
Go to the Accessories folder
Go to Internet Connection Sharing
Change PC Connection to Bluetooth PAN
Press Connect (left soft button)

I hope this helps you on your trip!

Ok I don't have an Accessories folder, however I was able to find Internet Connection and enable Bluetooth PAN. I setup Bluetooth on the laptop and connected to the phone. However, for some reason I am still not getting online. What do you think it could be?

Someone please help and quickly if possible. I fly tomorrow morning. Will be in debt for life....

I'm not sure who to give the credit for this little backdoor that was discovered, but I have been using it for almost two years. If you go to xm's website and register for a free three day trial to their online service and then not log in, you can go to www.xstreamxm.com and use it infinitely without ever paying.

Remember: Once you log into the xm site it will activate your three day counter and it will become invalid after 72 hours. Just stick to xstreamxm.com

On a side note: it kinda sucks over EDGE / GPRS. It works better if you are on a wifi connection. I have been using this for just over two months now on the Dash.

I would like to add a update about the mobile 6.1

I installed HTCs mobile 6.1 onto my Dash and I must say very nice. I really like the program that clears your memory for you. And the new look and feel is very nice. I did do a app unlock before I ran it but it comes with the boot loader in it so no need to run that.

And this is how I did my unlock 3 times now and works fine. But look for the pop ups on your phone when you run the mobile 6.1 update. If you don't OK them it wont work..

I also copied the files haret and USPL1.11.nb to the root directory but I do not run them. I found that it would work smoother with them on the phone but may not be needed.
Here is the 3 other files in case you need them

Change the following values to:

Put the file SurrealNetworksAppUnlock on to your root directory and run it
Reboot
Run SDA_ApplicationUnlock from your desktop
Reboot
Now run RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080314_WWE.exe from you desktop and watch your phone for the prompts, if your screen goes black wake it up so you can see the prompts come up.

i have a 2gb sd card for it, the card was working fine yesterday, but for some reason it isnt reading the card now, even when i sync it.

the card isnt new, its a 2gb that has been barely used...

i dont get why it is doing this, i remember it happened on my nextel i930 but i cant remember how i got it back...can anyone shed a little light on this??

have had my dash for the last 2-3 months and have just a few questions...

1. How do i format my 2gb sd card for my dash. as far as i know, its formatted for a sidekick slide

2. Was able to create a couple of test .mp3 ringtones and set them as ringtones for a couple of my contacts, but when they call me, it just reverts to the tmo ringtone. Is there a way to set ringtones for individual contacts or do i have to get one of those photo contact programs where it will let you do that? Or is there a certain location on the phone that i have to put the ringtones, for the individual contact ringtone to work.

3. Wondering if anyone has experienced this, after about 3 or 4 days i have to shut off and turn on or take the battery out and then turn it back on. Seems to just freeze after about 3-4 days. But, i have sktools and have been using the freeup ram program and it still does it anyway.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance everyone...

Some times I have to take my card out and put it back in a few times and then the phone can see it. Be sure to reboot the phone if that dont work. If no luck try another card they are getting cheaper.

I have mobile 6.1 very sweet i think. And yes you will lose your myfavs and not sure if you can get them back on a htc mobile 6.1 but if you call the numbers in your myfavs they will still work. But dont take my word for it you might find a way to get them to work on it.

I would say bad phone I never have to reboot. And for the card format it in your pc with a quick fat32 format and it should work fine. The ring tones I cant find a way to do that my self so if you do let me know. I can do pictures thats it.

i get requesting stream and then it asks me for the key you have you enter the kind thats all blurred like when you signed up for the forums here
then it says logging in and will load windows media player to stream the music then the error on media player says
an unknown error 0x8007007A has occured
also downloaded dash weather but cant get that to work either
i get an error that says
General error(i.e. your guess is as good as mine)...possibly a location ID error

I have a T-Mobile Dash, and I am currently on my 3rd handset in less than a month. The previous 2 handsets have both developed the same problem. The top 3/4 of the screen would get very "fuzzy." it was as if I were looking at my screen through a lightly tinted piece of glass. When I contacted Tmo customer support, they said they had not received any issues like this. Just kind of weird that it would happen to two phones in less than a month. Never dropped them, or damaged them in any way. I am considering demanding a different phone from them. Has anyone else run into this problem???

I dont know about the sirius issue. I use XM and music dock to play XM on the dash, As far as the weather, I use Weather bug direct..it loads on the home screen where the myfavs app normally goes.
