Comp USA is selling the V3i for $49.99 w/o rebates. Bad news for COR stores.

yup, its true. I was browsing my local Comp USA today and I noticed that they're selling the V3i for $49.99 w/o any rebates for new activations only. this is an insane price considering the Cingular COR stores are attempting (again, key word being ATTEMPTING) to screw their customers for something like $269 for the same damn thing.

no wonder the COR stores are losing out to indirects like Comp USA and so on. but then again, its their own damn fault for trying to be so greedy.

I actually got mine for free from CompUSA. I also go my SLVR L7 with ITunes for free!!!!
Oh yeah, my 3125 was 49.99 from there also!

Sounds like a good deal, if your a new custumer.

Cingular stores just plain suck. So do corporate stores. Why do you think so many people go to places like Bestbuy and etc..its way cheaper.

LOL, V3i is so yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why bother.

from the guy listing a 557 in his sig?

I'm curious to know if Cingular makes any profit when a reseller sells a phone. These places practically give the phones away, and then Cingular has to pay commission on top of that.

Anyone want to comment?

For existing customers, Comp USA price for the V3i is $125, no rebate required. Heck, for this price it also beat the pricing on my premier web site.

agents purchase their phones from cingular. this means the agent is able to give away the phone free if they'd like because they're making back the money they spent on the equipment when they get commission for selling service plans. cingular already made money on the phone on the front end when they sold it to the agent, they could care less how much agents charge for equipment.

I think this beats corp. rates as well.

they also sell it unlocked too, but if you want a higher resale value but the unlocked one use it, and then resell it on ebay or what not.

I would be curious to know how many v3i's Cingular actually moving.

I'd be willing to bet its hardly a blip on the radar.

I NEVER lose a sale to a local retailer. Our COR store and most in our area are able to do price matches. We've been matching prices for over 6 months! The only deals we can't match are Wirefly and Let's Talk, but anything local is fair game

And good luck getting Worst Buy/CrapUSA to do an upgrade around here-they wouldn't do one for me several times when I secret shopped them (gave them my brother's # which was out of contract.) CompUSA said "our systems don't support upgrades, you'll have to go to the corporate store unless you want us to add a line." Best Buy said "we don't get paid commission on upgrades so you'll have to go to to the corporate store..."

I'd be willing to bet that you're right. Cingular's price is so ridiculous on the V3i that its beyond funny.

oh well, the joke's on them because like I said earlier, they are and will continue to lose out on potential sales as long as big guns like Comp USA and Best Buy continue to offer the great deals like they do.

How is that a loss for cingular? Cingular makes money off of the service not the phones, cingular could care less where you get the phone from as long as you get service with them.

I found a website where almost all the cingular phones are free, I just got a Black V3 free w/o rebates and a W810 free after rebates from www.midusafreemobile.com. A friend told me about them.

You should be able to. Check their web site out and call the 1-800 number that they have listed and ask where they would ship to.
