I used to have a 7130 from Sprint that included a soft-sided holster. I would have it on my pocket when I wore jeans... It was great. Then, I left my job to attend college and had to give it back to my employer.

I just bought a Pearl, and it doesn't include a holster. I'd love to buy one, but the closest thing I can find is the Leather Pocket from RIM. I can't tell if it has a belt clip like the 7130 holster, though, and if it would function in the same way. Can someone shed some light on this? Or, does anyone have any third-party replacements? I would like it to have the "proximity sensor" (magnet), if at all possible.

You can either purchase an OEM case/holster from RIM or you can purchase an aftermarket case from Gizmoskin, Fortte, etc... the T-Mobile MDA case also works w/ the Pearl (magnet also).

Except one that fits the 8100. I've looked around the web. All I have found either have a strap that holds the phone inside the case (which I don't want) or are designed to keep the device in the case at all times (skin-style cases).

I just ordered the Lateral Case form Fortte. As little pricy but I'm very particular when it comes to a case. They have a good selection of options and you can customize them to fit your needs.

The dealer who sold me my Pearl told me that any case which fits a Motorola SLVR phone would fit a Pearl too. Can someone confirm that?

I just bought a Pearl carrying pouch (designed for BB Pearl) today at my local T-Mobile store for $19.99.

The very first case I used w/ my Pearl was a side pouch for the Motorola SLVR, it worked great but had no sleeper magnet. Now I use an OEM case from RIM and at times I'll use the holster/skin combo I got from Seido.

tell me how that one works for you. I have been thinking about that one. the only thing that I'm wondering is when you are using the phone (i.e. phone to your ear) what do you with the flap that goes over the LCD.

This is a great case for the 8100 (Pearl)....designed for the 8100 and fits like a glove along with the sleeper magnet.

I didn't like the Gizmoskin for the 8700. Too many issues (especially with poor build quality) and returns... I initially heard mixed reviews about th Gizmoskin one some liked it some hated it, I wasn't sure if I should get one or not but I've been going crazy with the accessories as of late and figured why not so I bought one off of a friend of mine. I found it fit a bit too tight and got rid of it pretty quick. I'm sure in time the fit would have loosened but it seemed to be tighter than it should have been. Any other Gizmoskin owners care to comment on how they like the case?

Seidio has a holster, it has the magnetic prox sensor.

got the case, it works great. you can just leave the flap on the screen when taking calls, but if you want to know who is calling you can open the flap real quick to see, then cover the screen again. not too much of a problem for me, at least i wont be getting the screen oily or smudged

It is, imho, the perfect pearl accessory if you carry your pearl on your belt/waistband/etc.

(BTW, I think rim/t-mo REALLY dropped the ball by shipping the pearl without the plastic holster or case in the box. Matter of fact, I didn't use my Pearl for a month after I bought it until I found this holster finally.)
