Is it possible to upgrade the firmware of Siemens S40 like the S55? Where can I get the firmware from?

Latest firmware is vers 9 & only seems to be available by returning the phone to Siemens in USA. Not sure about India, know in Europe they have Siemens service centers.

From what I have been told by alot of people and various dealers is that eight point whatever it is (not sure off the top of my head) f/w load works just as good on the s40 as 9.0 and is done by alot of service providers that sell that fone well in my area anyways... I had miune done through my provider.

I bought my phone "Brand New" in NYC it was already version 9. I called Siemens before I bought the phone , they said 9 was the latest. I also checked on the warranty, they said as long as I carry the receipt, the phone is warrantied worldwide.

Re, the earlier firmware vers 8, I have a similar situation with my S46 vers 62 it works with no problems. Siemens brought out a vers 64, from the message boards there are lots of problems with the newer software. So I agree newest is not always best.

The one problem I have had with this S40 is a headset, I bought a generic handsfree, does not work very well. Can't seem to find much for the phone.

alot of people have complained about the generic handsfree... I also have one and not have not been happy with it. I use BT now so I don't care for hands free on my other mobiles but I think I saw a post in here about a better handsfree for the s40

S40 SIM in, power on. *#06# IMEI number will appear, push top of right hand side rocker. Push red off button once to bring back to reg screen.
