HELP with European model

I just got a new PEBL to replace my old one, but it is a European model (I think). Came with a Euro plug with an adaptor to fit US outlets. Every time I get a text or voicemail message, I receive a text message like ^@ or something similar. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off? Also when I receive a voicemail, I do not get any notice. Can someone help me reprogram my phone to get rid of these problems? Thanks in advance.

edit seem 0032-0001

offset 02 bit 1: BLOCKS THESE FEATURES: Call barring, Call transfer, Info Services, do not read VM number from SIM, Voicemail ^@ text messages, Multi-Line Support, My Network List, Manual Network Search (1 on, 0 off - set to 0 to UNBLOCK these features)

Hey - Thanks for the reply, but I am totally lost here. How do I edit seem 0032-0001 and offset 02 bit 1. Sorry for the ignorance.
