NEC L1 / e949 Customized Menu

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: paulrgod

Hi Everyone,

I just spent quite a while creating a new main menu set for the NEC L1 phone, The icons are blue colured on a black background to match the phone. With a cool ripple animation when you select them.

Please download and let me know what you think - heres a preview :-

And heres the Archive with the files :-

download

Once you have transferred them to your phone you can set them by going to the following menu :-

menu > settings > main display > main menu style > icon

Then set them up individually

Also dont fotget to use the included background

menu > settings > main display > main menu style > background

Also set the colour style to high contrast.

Cheers
Paul

Wow downloaded 11 times and not a single reply to the thread?

Come on leave me some feedback if you downloaded them, i might be motivated to do some more

I downloaded but didn't get to try it yet. Where can I get data cable for this NEC E949? How did you connect to the phone, any special software needed?

Thanks

Hello, thanks for posting - i used a bluetooth adaptor for my p.c to transfer the files - i was unable to find a usb cable for this phone.

The bluetooth adaptors can be found on ebay for about Ģ10 / $20

Hope you enjoy them when you get em on!

Cheers

hey i downloaded the customized menu and i wanna put it on my phone but im having some real big trouble with connecting my nec e949 with the blue tooth doggle using blue soleil program.....anyone knows any help? plz?

Posted by: paulrgod

The bluetooth works a little odd on this phone - goto the bluetooth menu and choose 'data exchange' it will display 'waiting for data' on the screen.

In the Blue Soleil software search for new devices and it should find the phone.

Double click it to check for services

Then choose file transfer from the service icons that light up at the top of the screen

accept the access request on your phone

Then a window should pop up on the p.c which you can drag the files into

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Paul

Hello, nice icons.
I have the problem that I am not able to change the main menue style background! Can you please help?
Have you got other icons?

Thanks and
regards

Andy38

What happens when you try to change the background?

You should be able to select the included background and set it.

I havnt made any more icons yet but will probably have a go in the new year so check back.

If you want any specific colours, styles etc let me know.

Cheers
Paul

Hello, I am only able to select a background from the "Preset" folder - but I am not able to paste any background into this folder or delete something from this foldedr

Posted by: paulrgod

ok when it takes you to the preset folder press the clr/back button and it should take you down to the lower level in the folders where you should have access to the rest of the folders in the phone.

Wow - thatīs cool! Thanks a lot!
Well I am thinking about some black/orange icons - incl. background.

Prost!

Thanks for the menu. Awesome. How did you do it? I tried finding some documentation on the net but the L1/e949 is not really all that documented....

Also I have a couple of questions:

How do I unlock the main folders? I want to get rid of the startup screen and a few other things as well as the Chinese titles on my folders, as I bought this phone in Taiwan, it has the english capability, but seems to stop at the folder naming unless u make new folders.

Anyways of hacking/flashing the phone to something more user friendly? I really cant find any info on this phone, only reviews on the net.

Thanks again for the menu, may i request a black on black with white glowing outlines for the next one?

Posted by: paulrgod

Thanks - glad you liked em.

I used to have the L1 and as far as i could see there was no way to rename the system folders into english - i sold it and got the european version E949.

Also not seen any firmware upgrades or anything for it - shame theres not much info around for it - its a superb phone.

Ill see what i can do with the request

So this doesn't work on the L1 only the E949?

Posted by: waruta

512i is the I-mode Taiwan/China/Japan model, L1 is the name for it in HK and a few other Asian countries and e949 is the name for it in Europe. Clear?

I know the L1 is the same as the e949, but from reading this thread I thought this program doesn't work on the L1 and only the e949. Does this program work on the L1 version?

I just downloaded them, thank you for sharing!

I wanted to let everybody know that these icons and wallpaper work on another NEC phone too: the i-mode phone N500iS; I don't know with which name it's sold outside Italy/France, though.
