I'm pretty new to this phone and a smartphone. What programs do you guys recommend that I get?

TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player, google it)

Plays almost any audio/video file, and can also do pls streams.

Is there a way to install .exe files? I've been trying to install a .exe file and it says on the phone that it couldn't because it wasn't a .cab file?

are you sure the EXE file wasn't meant to be run on yoru desktop, so it'll install through activesync?

.CAB files are install files you run ON YOUR PHONE.

.EXE files can be SETUP files that you run ON YOUR PC

or .EXE files can be program exes that you execute ON YOUR PHONE.

You have to install .exe files from your computer and then sync to your phone.

For "must have" programs, try doing some searcheing around in this forum. There are plenty of threads for that very subject. (Start with a program called DontForget 2.0)

I'm trying to install Microsoft's Voice Command 1.5. It an .exe file that when I start the install it installs it on my laptop and then says take a look at your Smartphone to see if the program needs to install there also. Well I look at my 3125 and it does say that will install but then it says it isn't designed to work on this phone.

The version of VC for smartphone isn't officially available yet, so you are probably installing the PPC version which is why it doesn't work. However, the unreleased smartphone version is out on the net if you look.
