Ok, I am a total noob at all of this, and I want to get iTunes on my phone (SLVR L7) because apparently, if you have a lot of songs DAP takes forever to start.

Now I tried adding iTunes a long time ago, but all the mod programs never recognized my phone.

Now before I start modding, I have a couple of questions:

1) What is the most important thing to do prior to modding? (I'm thinking backup..but I have no clue how to do it)

2) What does "FLEX VERSION/PACKS" mean? I know they're like software for your phone, but what exactly does it add to the phone?

3) Is it a big risk to mod my phone? (Adding iTunes/Maybe updating flex version/skins)? I mean if there's a large possibility my phone will die because of this, I won't do it.
