unable to set mode for 8910

I have an audiovox 8910 (on cricket) and I noticed that there are no (A)nalog or (D)igital icons on my main screen it only shows 1X icon which I am not really sure what that means but anyway in the manual for the phone it says that one of those 2 icons (A or D) should be on my screen at all times and I was wondering how I can get them to show up or if there is a way to change the mode manually.

Anyone ??? Somebody has to have this information or am I the only person on this forum who has this phone.
