Boosting Signal with WM5

Is there any way to boost output power using WM5 PDA phones? Some way to crank it up a few watts so they are like the old bricks from the 80's. Is this something you could do through the WM5 operating system through the registry or whatever? Or do you need to actually go into the firmware or something?

OK, I'm going way out on a limb here, but here's what I remember about how digital cell phone connections work.... The cell phone and the tower are constantly monitoring the quality of the signal and automatically adjust the signal within predetermined (legal) limits.

My guess is there isn't anything you can do without a soldering iron and very good knowledge about what you are doing?

What are you trying to achieve??

Now, please call the fire department and get me down from this tree! :*)

Wondering how to boost power when in remote locations (with no bars). I guess I could buy an external antenna and power source. But, I wanted to know if it was something I could do through operating system (WM5) or firmware. Boost up the output power a little bit. Yes, I'm aware it would drain the battery faster I keep spares
