Just looked on the premier site and the 6925 is up. with everyone looking for the 8525 and 680, they snuck in the 6925 with little or no fanfare

It's going for $409.99 on my Premier site.

Same here. I have to return my 3125 (rebooting). Wonder how many days I can wait between getting phones.

Wirelessly posted (HP iPaq hw6945: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

I've had my baby (6945) for some time now and absolutely love it. It has everything and the kitchen sink intergated under the hood. (HSDPA would have been nice but let's be honest, HSDPA is only available in a very limited and very few bubbles so it's moot right now).

Gotta love a static keyboard, intergated WiFi, BT, fast processor, quick responding GUI and the icing on the cake: highly sensitive GPS.

FallN,

Glad to hear you like the 6945. I just got one two days ago, but have hardly used it yet; wanted to go slow in case I want to return it ... read feedback in the forums, see what else comes out (like 8525, now..), etc. I pulled the (Cingular) SIM out of my car phone, to check that the 6945 was not DOA, and also see if my Car Bluetooth read my Contacts list (it didi).

I assume you may be using your HP on Cingular, since you're on this thread... I've never bought an unlocked phone before (until my recent car phone and the HP6945, so I'd appreciate your insights on advantages/disadvantages related to using unlocked phones in general and using your 6945 on Cingular specifically. I understand the purchase price cost difference vs no contract, but anything you or others would be super.

Thanks

/Dave

Hi WaterDawg,

Gald to read you're enjoying your new 6945. It's a neat little device.

As for using an unlocked phone with Cingular, I used to be Cingular Blue (old AT&T customer) but switched to T-Mobile. I've been using unlocked phones for at least 4 years now and don't think I'll ever use another locked device again.

With the 6900 series once you pop in the SIM, it reads the SIm card and AUTOMATICALLY sets up carrier portals for towers, texts, mms, etc. No need to fuss or configure anything. As long as the info on the SIM isn't completely outdated (meaning a really old SIM) it'll do everything for you.

I'm currectly using my 6945 on TMO. Just popped my SIM card in and went. If you want to set up carrier specific email, that can be easily done too. Check the Cingular Wiki.

There are no inherent disadvantages to owning an unlocked 6900. Zero. It's a win, win for you. Having the freedom to use it on any GSM carrier in the world sans international roaming fees. Resale value is higher than branded/locked identical phone. No crippled carrier software. No glitchy carrier software add-ons. No drama. All win, win, baby.

The 6900 has some darn good reception. The best reception I've seen on any PPC phone and beats a bunch of standalone phones. Head and shoulders above the HTC Wizard/8125/MDA. Never dropped a call. Crystal clear sound. Loud ringer. I was surprised to say the least since it has so many internal antennas going at once. Nary a hiccup in signal strength or reception. I even get a signal in my basement where my backup cellophone can't. I'm totally digging this device.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

Speaking of the premier site, I can't believe what Cingular does with those prices. They set the retail prices so high, and while you're getting a discount off of the retail, I am not sure how much of a discount you're really getting.

Please tell me why. I have the e62 and was thinking of getting the 6925 instead, but not the 8525 (Since I recently got rid of my 8125 and dont want that big of a phone). I have been racking my brain if I should keep this Nokia or get the iPAQ.

Posted by: tank27

well its all in the 3G. i use my cingular internet plan alot. if i could be using 3g, dont you think it is worth it. Both have wifi and bluetooth. the screen is better on the e61 but again no wifi and no camera. plus there is about 1000 times more software for a ppc than symbian9.1

Thanks for the reply!

What is the premier site?

I have about 6 weeks to decide what I want, I went to cingular tonight and looked at three devices. If there are others that are not in the store I would like to see them.

How would you rate the screen on the iPAQ6925. I'm seriously considering it right now. I just don't know. I guess I'll get it and see what I think.

I just pulled the trigger on this one. I couldn't wait any longer for the 8525.

Posted by: tank27

i used the 6925 for about 3 weeks and the gps with pocket streets is the best program i found. There were some things i didnt like about wm5 but i am a avid nokia user so it was hard for me to learn where stuff was.

What sort of data plan does one need for the 69xx? Is MediaNet all I will need for email and surfing?

$350 on our premier site. I picked one up tonight since I am sick of waiting for the 8525.

That was my reasoning too. I bought one last night, and still no shipping info yet. I'll see what it has to offer. I've heard from several sources that the clarity and reception are 2nd to none, and it's as fast as edge can get.

Is this premier site some secret certain people can't see?
