I downloaded the 48p firmware for my A1200 phone. Is it safe to load this to my phone? I have never done it before but i have the program to do it with also. Will this change my settings? I really just want to get rid of that stupid blank text message i keep getting when i get voicemail. Apparently if you have T-Mobile service this text message pops up when a voicemail comes thru... i was just wondering if anyone has loaded this firmware and did it fix the problem? Other than that this phone is awesome!!

Regarding the blank text message, this is normal. Rogers for example (in Canada) sends an SMS alert to all subscribers to inform that they have a message waiting. I have a Blackberry and it does the same.

I would recommend to flash to 08p firmware. It has a better battery life, allows for huge bluetooth transfers, and takes better pictures.
As for the blank text message. You have two choices. One is to flash to 46p or flash to 08p and do a very very simple seem edit using radio comm.

Where do I get Radio Comm and what is the "simple" edit? I've been literally tearing up the Internet looking for this. Good luck looking for simple words like radio and comm. Ugh.

Please help - this blank SMS thing is making me batty. Wish fans was back up!

I wish my forum was back up as well.... anyway i cant give you radiocomm on this forum since its against the rules.. Google it.

As for the seem edit.. ill post the seem edit once you get radiocomm.

thanks for the chime in Alpha, if you can point me in the right direction on what to google for, that'd go a long way. I've been crawling the tubes all day, radio comm is too common. Who is the manufacturer, what's the latest version, etc etc - anything to close the gap on what I'm looking for. Feel free to PM me as well.

The drivers are easy - they came on the disk with your phone or are available from motorola developers.

you need RSD Lite .. you can google it and find a version on the net, I used 3.3 and it worked fine.

You need the firmware .. .08p seems to be the general consensus for generic firmwares , there's a thread here by Alpha43 sharing the file, so get that.

Then you'll need the drivers for your phone, make sure to install them all first. Those came with your install disk.

The rest is intuitive.

I just did this for the first time, the only trick is you need the drivers for the phone, which I found in a "Motorola_modding_ultimite_pack" google search that, and you should find a rapidshare with it. It has all the drivers you need when you start flashing, as well as the RSD Lite 3.2 and 3.3. The 08P is the one I got from Alpha, some rapidshare site... It wasn't too bad, just had like literally 8 different requests for new drivers when it was in the middle of flashing, kinda bugged me out. I had to get the phone in boot loader mode as well, hold down the voice recognition button + joystick enter key when you power it on, immediately it turns red in boot loader mode.

Ok, 08P, 48P both fail to work on my phone, unless I am doing something wrong. I launch the phone in boot loader mode, and run RSD Lite, point it to the firmware, and once it's done, the top buttons don't work at all i.e. phone, contacts etc... battery gives me a "no battery signal" and won't connect to any service, i.e. GPRS... doesn't care if sim is in or not...

I'm trying 40p right now, but not very hopeful, not too many firmwares out there for download that I can find. 53p available anywhere? help?

53P can be found here... I don't know the rules about linking to firmware. If this is against the rules or not. it's not hosted by me... If it is my apologies, please erase the link. But it was a hell of a time finding it, and I'm pretty desperate as my phone is not working, so I figured there would be others in the same situation.

it's in chinese, The actual link is the the characters right below the red characters... The file is called: "A1200_53_CMCC_yan_0.rar" Will let you know if it works!

Ocelaris, if you want o try 53P, the one you should look for is the bint's 53Pv3
I think it's the latest one w/ all the bugs pretty much cleared out of the way

Thanks for the help, I wasn't able to get the 53p to work, but I got 24P for the 1200R to work, I thought it was an unflashbackable flash, so luckily I got everything working again, I must have a different phone than some...

I'm just so happy to not have a brick anymore! must get some sleep, but this is where I got the 24p for 1200R

really?? do you have the A1200i o A1200r? If so then you need to flash with 24p... But i want to warn everyone else... Do not flash a normal A1200 with 24p.. 24p is for A1200i and other variants.

I also manually did it.. I believe carriers will adjust it within the next 2 weeks. So just do it the old fashion way until then.

24P was the only one I was able to get to work. I started out with some unknown (forgot to look) and then tried 08P, didn't work (no signal, and top buttons non functional), tried 48P, 40P, and then 53P with same results. Then tried 24P in desperation, and everything works again. So I had no intention of doing 24P, but I guess that means I have a 1200R or 1200I? Not sure how to check.

Is there a 24P that is not for China Mobile? alot of it is in Chinese still, ringtones etc... despite changing the language to english.

After flashing with 24p you can not flash to any other firmware... Where are you located? best way to check is your box.

What type of phone do you have? A1200, A1200i, A1200E, or A1200r? Look at the sticker in the back to check. Also for a list of firmware i suggest going to motorolafans.com where i wrote a complete guide to picking the right firmware and location where to download them.

i uploaded 46p, what a mistake, should have done more research

Now my phone is just stuck, phone is not charging or something with this firmware, just a brick too with the software.

Any help??

I cant even get my computer to recognize the phone....

RSD 2.7, 3.3 when I try to search device its not coming up

How do you get the phone to go into boot loader mode? What buttons do i press and hold to get into it?
