I wish there was more info on this because I'm planning on getting an SK3 today and I don't want to get this one and them release an all black one.

That sidekick was modded. It would be ridiculous to release a black Sidekick days after you release the Diane Von Furstenberg Sidekick LE which happen to be mostly black...

IMHO this is a picture of a Diane Von Ferstenberg LE Sidekick with a regular Sidekick screen and keyboard.

Not like the bumber used to be removable on the SK2. Even Kei Stylist ask you to send your unit to them to change the gray panels, its doable, but not by everyone.

(As a side note, Kei Stylist even offer all back plastic cover replacement. That black Sidekick 3 was really a blunder for BGR)

BG showed me the black sidekick the other day.

I hope this one comes out When I get a contract with t-mobile and get my sidekick3 I was gonna get the original one but If the black one comes out by february or March (Which is when Ill be switching to them) Then this is a definate buy for me!

Like Gutterpunk said, someone could have just taken apart the DVF LE SK3 and replaced the back of the screen, the plastic covering the screen, and the keyboard with the ones from a regular SK3. It would still look OEM.

How do you know? BGR doesn't mention who "dropped" that phone on his desk, and he claim that Danger doesn't tell him anything about it. Seems pretty weak to me.

How i know the device is original and not fabricated is

A) Do you really think that someone is going to go thru all the trouble and buy two limited editions sk's and make them into one? Even if someone was that stupid, this wouldn't be the case becasue

B) The entire thing is ruberized like the back of the current sk3. Is that available on the LEs? Didn't think so.

C) Danager makes special edition Sk3's in all black rubber for celebrity clients. They even have special engraving on them like "s.carter" and "black wall street"

BGR makes no claim that the device is a LE device and even mentions that Danager does make the device for celebrities.

A ) Someone who had a Sk3 and broke it, and then decided to get a DVF. You'd be surprised what people are going through to get a "personalized" phone. No one will ever get their stock DVF or LRG phone featured on a couple leading tech blogs, but apparently a DVF/regular hybrid will.

B ) If you check the 360 degrees view of the DVF on www.sidekick.com, its the same texture.

C ) What BGR says is that "it could be a pre-production model, or a custom Sidekick". They don't say that Danger does it, they say that it could, they don't even know what it is. But even if it is a "celebrity 'kick", it doesn't mean that T-mobile will ever sell a black Sidekick 3 now, does it...

And charlie09, I'm not cranky, I'm just tired of all the "facts" everyone spout out. If it turns out that it is true, great, but in the meantime, its only speculation.

You will only be able to trade it in if it is within the 14 trial period, make sure with the store first tho. All stores have different policies

look at the 6th pic, the right panel towards the inside is gray like the original sk3.
The other side is black.
So it might be fake

It's the light/flash making it look gray.

And for anyone tryna deny The Roc or BoyGenius must not know their track record for getting their hands on super duper rare phones that arent out yet, they love breaking NDA's!

And for the guy saying it's a Diane with regular screen and keyboard how can that be possible if the black parts are rubberized like the battery cover and last time I check the Diane Sk3 wasn't like that.

Here is what appears to be the exact same Sidekick this thread is about, for sale on eBay for 650$. The seller says:
THIS IS THE OEM BLACK SIDEKICK 3 LIMITED EDITION CUSTOMIZED.

THE PINK BUTTONS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS WELL AS THE LCD WITH THE RED LIPS FOR GUYS OR GIRLS THAT WANT AN ALL BLACK SIDEKICK 3.

Obviously not. Looking at the second picture, you can see the pink volume and power buttons.
