What? AIM messages sent from the A707's IM software use up text messages?

2. your outgoing texts are auto-saved. No save and send or just send options

6. no text option to reply with the original message.

2. Messaging Settings > Text Message > Sending Options > "Uncheck" Keep a Copy

6. You could also use the Forward feature A bit cumbersome but it gets the job done.

bob squared - thanks. I like the save and send. It allows me to doublecheck that I didnt send the gf's msg to the wife and vice versa. just kidding.

on the reply with original message -thanks again. I usually try not to have full length threaded discussions via txt, but it would be really helpful if there was a significant amount of time elapsing between recv-ing a msg and sending a reply. very cool.

I think this phone rocks. for $49 bucks (plus data) its really a steal. I wish there was a native email client outside of yahoo, etc. but its not a dealbreaker and this phone is plenty loud for me (though I can still hear the mosquito ringtone that only people under 30 are supposed to be able to hear - does that mean my hearing is above average? haha)

I really hope not, otherwise my bill is gonna be huge

I am not sure if they take up text or data. but between the IM and email alerts (I had to shut them off) my overall text volume is up about 25%. thank god for the media max 1000 plan.

Heh. I think I still have a cola and beer, cleverly named CAB, leftover from my trip to Germany. I'll hang onto it, just in case.

Going home for Thanksgiving break, then?

I am also curious to see what you think of it going from a v551. If it were me, I'd freak, seriously. I mean, I was freaking out over the phone when I played with it last week.

You are a better person than me. I have no patience whatsoever. After my 1 p.m. appointment, since I'll be near my house, I'm gonna run home and see if the credit card came. If it did, I should have just enough time to run and get the phone before my 4 p.m. meeting. LOL

Perhaps I should spend my time plotting how to get a better paying job than how to get a phone. Heh.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this problem doesn't exist for me, as AIM on my 707 won't stay alive for more than 5 mins or reboots the phone.

Still, I'd sure hope these take up data. Otherwise would be really underhanded by Cingular.

SMS and IM are not equal, as people on the other end have no regards about how often to msg because they aren't always aware enough of what method you're connected via.

Looks like it is indeed data and not as SMS. I checked my usage online - thenI logged in and sent a few messages, logged out of the cingular site, and logged back in a few min later. No change in sms. I was using email alert function for hotmail, so that is probably what ran up the text tally.

i dont think it would be that fast or close to real time. and as far as i can remember, built in AIM apps use texts, not GPRS. when you log into AIM, do you see the GPRS indicator showing transmission?

the 3g+ is on when AIM or Yahoo is on, and messages are sent
meaning that HSDPA is active, per my manual.

i am pretty sure it's been discussed before in other threads/forums, IM using built in Cingular client DOES use SMService and WILL deduct from your pool every time you send or receive.

I think this thread has served its purpose, its now available in most locations.
