can someone get the files for the new Opera Mini 3.0 beta
I want to have them so i can report bugs and stuff so our nextel phones will handel opera a little bit better.

Posted by: YoDude

Next time do us a favor and post a link to what you refer to.

I have them on my Blog >> http://my.opera.com/yodude/blog/200...a-mini-beta-3-0

I won't post them here because it has a nasty habit of restarting my 580. It looks like there is a display driver conflict. Keep us up to date when a newer build becomes available.

Well the Opera Mini Low version works on iDEN phones and I will post those files on HoFo. This version does not allow camera uploads and that may have been the problem with the high version (previous post).

It does allow RSS feeds and that may be useful for some. Other than that, there are no new improvements with the GUI.

Enjoy

BETA low 3.0 JAD

BETA low 3.0 JAR

As a bonus the midlet has been named diffently for the BETA so you can run it along with your previously installed version 2.0 for comparison.
Please join the Opera community and report bugs to the Beta team...
>>> http://my.opera.com/community/forum...c.dml?id=165068
It only works if YOU work it.

Addendum: This version ROCKS!

It's seems quicker, RSS feeds view correctly, and new JAVA script support now allows me to view widgets that I made previously for traffic and weather but could not view on the previous versions.

Thanks for the heads up dude!

Naw man NP, it's just easier for you coming from the page than it is for someone to search the net and trying to figure out if they have the right thing...

BTW, keep this thread going if you find other builds later on and I will do my best to test and tweak them for us.

great post works great

Wirelessly posted (Motorola i730: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4509/1378; en; U; ssr))

on my i730x boost, the advanced would reboot fone upon starting, but the basic worked great no probs at all. i tested the ones from yodude`s myopera.

Posted by: QuiQNezz

I did find it to be a little faster then 2.0 but it also now seems to be downloading about double the data as well which actually makes it slower then 2.0. The images do seem a little clearer and bigger now but at the cost of a longer download. I'm at least not having the low memory problem which led to my Opera "rebooting" my phone when I surfed too much on it.

I timed them both today downloading a large Doppler radar image I use and you're right, the beta takes almost twice as long...

As for the memory issue in the past, you should use the low format for that as well. The reboots will also go away. The only thing you loose is "skins" and some shortcuts I believe. As I said in my previous threads the high version of Opera 2.0 will only run well on 580's, 870's, and now 880's. Other models do not have enough flash/heap memory available. 4096k vs. 2048 I believe.

works great but waiting for a final version

Thanks... I got it. The Hi version of this app still crashes the phone... The Lo version works but you loose MIDP 2.0 functions like push to dial, etc.
This leads me to believe that the call to the camera routine @ first start is what is causing the crash...
Not ready for Prime Time yet I'm afraid Stick with the Hi version of 2.0 for the fullest functional Opera Mini experience.

BTW Benporat: If you are following this thread I noticed when I go to ~Evil~|~Steg~'s provided link with a WAP emulator that many more International versions are now available. Since I don't load all characters in the emulator I can't see all the languages offered (I get null characters instead).

I guess my question to all would be if there is a Hebrew version, when visiting Goggle's site for e-mail, will Hebrew e-mail be presented RTL?

Before I forget... Thanks Steg.

Just a quick post Opera moblie isnt that great and I think the regular mini version is much better.

Another noted the beta small version caused my brothers phone to crash twice today once on me and once on him (i860) but with that aside it seems to be working great

Wirelessly posted (Motorola i730: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/2.0.4509/1378; en; U; ssr))

the advanced opera mini 2 works on my i730x but lags when i load a site with alot of pics, and wont let me view drop down menus thats why i dont use advanced.

Posted by: bluesubaru

Opera Mini 3.0 is no longer beta. It is now official.

Posted by: thedov

Could someone please post the high res 2.0's jar and jad?

Posted by: YoDude

They will be up later in the day

Posted by: jaustin

Did they make any final changes to the beta before making it offical?

Posted by: kien_soy

I just downloaded the advanced version of Opera Mini 3.0 and it also restarts my i860. I think I will have to use the light version at least for the RSS Feeds.

Just cleaned it up some inside. It still will reboot an iDEN camera phone though so until I can try some things (gotta learn some first) your choices are use the low version (MIDP 1.0) and loose skins, size, and the ability to call a number from a web page but gain RSS feeds. OR Keep 2.0 hi version and loose RSS.

I load feeds that I need on my Google mobile home page anyway so I don't need an RSS reader. I just can't read 'em on the fly, that's all.

Just loaded Opera 3.0 into my i880 and works with no issues. It rebooted my i870 when trying to use it, but the 2.0 Advanced worked great in the i870.

Posted by: ~Evil~|~Steg~

i installed the official 3.0 as well and it has a few minor issues. i cant use wap.howardforums.com fully anymore. for example i can quote but not reply to posts now and it doesnt let me logout either, also it doesnt load the pages of hofo completley. i know opera mini is gearing towards full html, but id figured id just let ya know. The pages look alot crisper and clearer than before, and i think i need to upgrade my fone finally lol.

I don't have a 880 to test it on but it works fine on the emulator. (So does the 580 in emulator BTW) In real life it crashes the dang phone. (reboots the 580).

Someone should try it with the new 870 soft/firmware upgrade and if it works, it will help id the problems with the older camera phones.

mini-3.0.jad

mini-3.0.jar

Posted by: jazntiger

I am fairly certain it just caused my i870 just upgraded yesterday to restart.

I'll try again...

[EDIT]: Yup, caused my phone to restart while loading the program. Sorry!

Posted by: YoDude

No that's good... so the upgraded soft ware didn't allow it to run on an 870 either... H'mmm. Must be a hardware difference somehow.
That at least gives us somewhere to start.

BTW, ^that's what I mean by "free flowing" information. I don't have an 880 and now I've learned something.
The 870 and 880 do something differently or have different API's loaded to flash. Maybe someone who has both can tell us the difference. My gut says it has something to do with how the phones access the camera.

Posted by: kien_soy

I already sent Opera a bug comment to see if they fix it in a future version.

Has anyone elses Opera Mini 2.0 stopped working today? I can't access any site.
The app starts up fine, just can't access any site.
But my regular Nextel internet works fine.

I run Opera Mini 2.0 on my i580 and I just this minute tried it out. It seems to be working fine for me.

Posted by: kien_soy

My i860 (on Boost mobile) stopped giving me internet access to any of my java apps, including Opera Mini 2.0, only the Net browser was working. This happened since the morning, but everything seems to be working fine. I just hope Boost isn't testing how to block out internet on Java applications.

Posted by: sprincezz

same thing was happening to me, but it seems to be back up now... hope it is for you too

Posted by: YoDude

Someone reported that a packet data outage was rolling nationally today on the main page. I didn't notice it in Philly but it may have been in your area at the time you tried it.

Posted by: Twenty4

Outage was the problem. It's all good now.

Posted by: kien_soy

Good to know it was temporal.
Any news on the Opera Mini 3.0?

Posted by: ~Evil~|~Steg~

Wirelessly posted (I730x beefed up: MOT-A-2B/01.07 UP.Browser/4.1.27a1 UP.Link/5.1.2.16)

I noticed that the amount of txt you can enter in the non beta is alot less than the betas, betas: 1-2000 non betas 256, this is with om basic. It almost makes me want to go back to using the betas.

Posted by: kingI870

hey does anyone notice that with opera mini3 when you go to type an address in the address bar, that it does not allow you to change the typing method from to t9 to alpha. Can anybody help me out with that cause i pay a lot of stuff online and since oper 2.0 did not have a secure connection on certain pages that opera 3.0 did, that is my main reason for wanting this version.

Posted by: Makaveli96

does the 3.0 advanced restart the i880?

Posted by: kingI870

no it does not

Sure it does.
Once you've selected the address bar and hit OK to bring up the "Enter Address" window, hit the phone's MENU key once (button to the left of the left arrow). That'll bring up the PREVIOUS ADDRESSES, CANCEL menu selections. Now hit the phone's MENU key again; here you have the ENTRY METHOD (Alpha, Word, Symbols, et al.) menu available.

Hope that helps.
