Alltell phone on verizon firmware not working right

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a alltel v3c phone with alltell servise and I just downloaded the new firmware from verizon.
and installed it. i noticed the phone numbers are still there, but i can't go into menus and stuff like that. I know u'll ask me why I want verizon firmware on it, so i'll tell you now. I like the phonebook wayyy better, and you can make folders in them instead of having to browse through a certain name for his email address, home number, work number and stuff like that on alltel, and also i like the calculator better. ok back to sub.. i did the reflash, and it works to some extent, but to most not, is there anything else i need to do, like maybe a flex edit or i dunno what else, please advise as soon as possible. i need this phone.

You do know you can set up the Moto UI (Alltel firmware) phonebook to be almost exactly like the phonebook on the Verizon UI, right?

Anyway, I'm assuming the problem you're getting is the black screen while on a call, inability to get into a lot of the settings menus, etc.? If so, that's because you don't have the Verizon firmware skins. (You'll notice that every place you have a problem is where the Verizon UI's BREW shell dips into the native Moto UI disguised with a red-bars skin.) Find a copy of the Verizon V3c filesystem (DarkLodge has one I believe), and use P2KCommander to load Default, Blue, Business, and Tropical under a/mobile/skins. (Make a directory with the name of the skin, and then put all the skin's files in that directory.)

That should fix it for you.

OK, skins are in there now, but it does the same thing,
the phone prob needs a reset so it loads the default skins again,
can i do that with seem editing? tell me how,

OK,
i did a master reset with motokit.
now most of the stuff works except for the dialing screen it's all black and some of the menu screens don't work at all. do you think theres a file missing from darklodge? or does the newest verizon firmware require different skins? please let me know.

Hmmm...not quite sure what's wrong then...did you try a Master Clear too? Try that. Can you get into the Display menu to change the theme?

EDIT: Oh, just thought of something else! What version of the Verizon firmware did you flash to? The only "complete" version is .02...it's the closest thing we in the CDMA Moto world have to a monster pack, and it should be able to restore missing files (I believe people have unbricked phones with it). Since you said you flashed to the "newest Verizon firmware," I'm assuming you used .04. Try flashing to .02, then to .04P (this is the leaked version of the Verizon .04 firmware that enables OBEX file transfers). That might help your situation.

ok, yes, i tried it back to .02 then .04 again, samething, but it's alot better since i master resetted it/ I did a master clear too, some menus are still not working. and the dialing screen is all black.
