V235 PC Connection Issues

I have a new Motorola V235 phone and I want to connect it to my PC and then play around with my pictures and ringtones. I cant seem to get it to work.

I have a USB to Mini USB cable which Im using to connect my PC to my phone. I've installed the p2k drivers so that if I go to Control Panel > Phone & modem Options > Modems it says that I have Motorola USB Modem available on COM port 3.

I've tried connecting with Motorola Phone Tools (version 3.11 AND version 4) but I'm having no luck. The Motorola USB Modem is found okay but neither program can recognise my device. On version 4 I can choose V235 from a list but even then I just get "Initialising please wait..." and no connection. I tried using another program too but its name escapes me now.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? This is getting really annoying and I just want to transfer music and pictures between my PC and my V235. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you get the p2k? And how do you install it?

P2k works with my V235 get it from motomodders

P2k wont detect my phone on its own.

well it will detect mine sometimes. if i turn my phone off and on by the 10th attempt it may work. before the message pops up the phone has broken the connection

now just so i know i'm not going round the bend i've done a fresh install of xp with no software on it other than mpt, mobiledit, p2k and it connects to the phone i can see whats on the phone and as soon as i try to transfer a file it ***** out.
mpt reports phone has broken the connection
mobiledit reports a crc error
p2k just stops working

any ideas much appreciated

sorted. just fitted another usb card

strange how the L7 worked on each of my 6 existing usb ports
