In OC, CA. Where will you be buying your 8525?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, I thought I'd start this thread to see if people who live in OC, CA is actually going to buy their 8525 in a store.

I've already gone to 2 stores around my school, btw I go to OCC, which one is on Harbor Blvd/Adams Ave, and the other one in Santa Ana. Regrettably, those reps in both of the stores said they have NO IDEA of what 8525 was nor they would come out on 16th of this month.

Oh, the guy in the Harbor store? He was trying to sell me a E62...

Ok, does anyone in OC know which Cingular store will carry the 8525 on the 16th? I will definately make a trip if I have to... within maybe 20~25 miles.

I will be checking out a couple more places tomorrow so let's keep updated!

I will tell you where not to go. The Cingular Corp store in Brea (Imperial/Randolph). Horrible customer service. I am in fullerton.

i heard econo wireless have the best deals they might have it since it's a nationwide release
you should give them a call and find out 626 286 8158
it's located in san gabriel

Thanks for some great inputs guys!

I've gone to two stores in Huntington Beach today, and what a surprise, they have no idea either.

Well, I guess I'll keep look around.

Posted by: Naveen

i talked to the store in the tustin market place and some of the sales people have knowledge of the 8525 and they are stating at the end of the month is when the stores will have it

I did 'bout an hour ago, and nobody picked up the phone. I guess they're closed right now... I guess I'll try my luck again tomorrow.

About Tustin Ranch Market... Since they'll have it at the end of the month, it does sound like an option... but why so late?

I WANT IT ASAP!

Definitely avoid the one on Edinger near Beach Blvd (next to a Citibank and across from the mall). Those guys are shady to the gills and management does not want to be held accountable for their actions.

the sales girl said at the end of the month because cingular.com gets it first and then it trickles down to the stores.

Of course, I wish they would be honest about it though. I understand customers who are activating new lines of service with a data plan get high priority but at least tell other customers. If you are upgrading with no intent in purchasing a data plan or buying out right then they say everything from "oh they aren't in stock" or "there is a waiting list" to not sell you the phone. Way to go Cingular, picking and choosing who gets the privilege to use your product first! I would rather them tell me that they are waiting for a more profitable customer to come in and buy the phone instead of me with money in hand, I would not be happy but at least I would understand their position. Here is an idea Cingular, provide enough inventory so the store reps are not put in an uncomfortable situation or lie to the customer.

Check out Harbor and Orangethorpe in Fullerton. It's in the shopping center on the Southwest corner (other stores nearby - agent I think). Anyway, manager is Kim Washington. I can get you her phone number as well. Some of the reps there are idiots, but it's the only store I've been to where they haven't tried to flip my features or mess with me at all. Then again, I really only deal with Kim. Best store in the area, IMO.

The Cingular store at the Spectrum often has phones before they are avaliable online or anywhere else.

I have noticed that but some of the reps in that store are clueless. I have been there many times.

its because the rep makes zero dollars off of you buying one. but your last sentence is correct. because once more stock comes in the rep can care less who they sell it to

Posted by: riDuh7

Wow, I'm surprised that many of you may live pretty close to me.

BTW, I've tried again today with a couple of stores.... NO LUCK.... What's wrong with these Cingular reps? I mean... Don't they work for Cingular?

I'm just gonna sit and wait from now on... Won't be calling or going to stores to ask around no more. But, if anyone finds out where they will carry them, please share the location! And if you can find out, please ask them about the quantity of 8525 they will have that day.

the problem is that the sales staff at most of the stores at not really into new gear. they are there as a temporary job through school. i called a couple of santa ana stores and asked about the new samsung 707 and the 8525, the store manager thought i was speaking some different language.

Posted by: Sparkomatic

I'm surprised at the number of people in OC here too. I gave up calling and asking reps about phones awhile ago...they never know. Usually, I'll check this site to see if people have seen them in stores and then I'll start calling around.

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

the a707 is out as well as the v3r

hopefully the 8525 arrivs the 16th, but most likey they get it either before or a lil after the date

If that is the case, I'd prefer the earlier one.

Well, let me ask you guys a few questions.

How reliable is Cingular in OC? I've been with Verizon for past 4 years, and I did have service with Cingular before that for 2 years. But, how much more reliable has Cingular become compared to 4 years ago? As for me, I'm very happy with Verizon's reception and data speed. I just hate the fact they are not GSM-based company.

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

compared the 4 years ago, i would say it is a bigger difference. The biggest disappointment would be the fact that you would not be able to use the 8525's UMTS/HSDPA since it has not been launched yet. other than that, i would say its generally good reception wise.

Posted by: eimajuno

I have lived in orange county for about 2.5 years and I have carried Cingular for 6 years. Its very strong in most parts of orange county. The only places that I have really had any problem is along PCH in Laguna/Newport beach, just because its so hilly. Other than that I have been extremely happy with my coverage from cingular.

agreed. i used verizon and cingular for work and cingular reception is way better. verizon tends to break up alot. t mobile is awful out here!

Posted by: riDuh7

That's great! I just hope that Cingy would launch the long-waited HSDPA asap!! So we can all enjoy our soon-to-be-launched 8525 to the fullest.

I've also heard that EVDO Rev.A is starting to roll outta Verizon. They said it should be faster than the HSDPA... Is that true? Even if it is true, I don't really think there will be a PDA device that will support the Rev. A for at least next 6 months....... you never know tho'.

I work for a Cingular Dealer in Fullerton our warehouse is closed till Monday (11/13) I'll let you guys know when we can get it in.

Posted by: Sparkomatic

I stopped by the Cingular at the Irvine Spectrum yesterday and the guy told me that they wouldn't be getting it for another month.

I bought a tytn yesterday. The 8525 is a little nicer looking IMO but I figure if and when it comes out, I'll still have to wait for it cause it will probably be sold out quick. And, I'm sure dealers will want to sell to new activations first rather than a guy like me just trying to buy it outright.

do you think you will sell them outright or will yo ube forced to sell the units with contract?

Posted by: jrettinger

Anyone know when Cingular will launch 3g in OC?

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

Latest by mid 2007 in the LA market. thats what we have been told. If that includes OC aswell, then thats great!

We're not anal like other stores, so we can sell it to you w/o a contract however it be nice if it was sold w/ either a upgrade or new activation.

fyi since any pda/smartphones are special orders for us we can not accept exchanges since Cingular won't give us credit. so all sales are final and if you have any problems with the phone you would have to wait till after 30 days of purchase and do the warrenty exchange.

Even Treo's? Is that just your store or all stores?

I bought a 650 from a local store with no contract and was able to return it a couple days later no questions asked.

Posted by: riDuh7

I guess he's in an agent store instead of a corp store...

Posted by: iridium130

i'm interested in well...but I'm wondering if I may be better off just getting it online with my Premier discount? I can't imagine any agent stores giving much discount on the 8525...=\

Posted by: FreewayLover

Cingular Premier or B2B sales. Both work excellent and you can also deal down if you go the phone route.

Posted by: riDuh7

Ok, now that it is officially launched. Does anyone know were we might have a chance of take a look at it around OC?

I mean.. C'mon! IT IS OUT!! WE WANT IT!! Now don't we?

Posted by: drakkahn

I found 2 at the Santa Ana store off of 4th. They had one left but that was a few days ago.
Give them a call, talk to Betty.
$299 ea w/ 2 yr contract
They "bundle" a bluetooth headset with it as well for an additional $59.00.
I don't think you have a choice on this so you really get out the door for $358.00
But you can always take the bluetooth back to any other store so you can get the discount

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

a lot of stores already have it sold out!
the most any store can get no matter how large it is got like 3

Posted by: KeithKman

I got mine on the 16th from the store in the Tustin Market Place. I got the last one. They only got three in stock. Be sure to talk with John. Tell him Keith, the guy who bought the 8525 said to talk to you about availability on the 8525. The other people in the store don't know anything about the phone.
