Have you tried installing the Moto skin?
EDIT: Use the copy from the Alltel filesystem on DarkLodge...all the other copies I've found work improperly.
Posted by: Delox
well i had flashed it alltel at first with this exact same file, but now i reverted back to v3m and tried to go back a second time to alltel, and this happened. Ill try to get the darklodge, also can you show me a good walthoguht for how to install the skins, and where to get the stock moto? thanks!
EDIT:
i got the darklodge filesystem for alltel V3C, but how do i get in on the phone, its not a superfile...
and if i just copy it over with p2k commander, does the phone need to be in flash mode or just v3m filesystem and delete everything and copy over new stuff
wow i sound confusing
thanks

Whoa there, don't go deleting the entire EFS! That would be very bad, methinks.
You don't need to put the whole filesystem on the phone, you just need to put the Moto skin from the filesystem on the phone. Go to a/mobile/skins/Moto in the Alltel filesystem you downloaded. Copy all those files, and paste them into a folder somewhere. Open PST, then open P2KCommander. On the right side, navigate to where you put the Moto skin files you copied from the Alltel filesystem. Select your phone on the left side, then navigate to a/mobile/skins. Create a folder called "Moto," capitalized exactly like that. Go into the folder and delete the .com file that P2KCommander puts in there for some odd reason. Then copy all the Moto files over - the one .ski file and all the .dat files. Then close P2KCommander, close PST, disconnect the phone, power it on, and see if that helps.
P.S. If you want the Moto wallpaper to display by default when you change skins to Moto, copy the wp_default_176x220.jpg file out of a/motorola/shared/picture in the Alltel filesystem and put it in the same location on your phone.

copying over the skin didnt help, same as shown in video
what else could it be? can i just copy over everything>?lol
any other ideas?
thanks

Copying over everything would be a bad idea, since a lot of your phone's Verizon settings are stored in the flex (the filesystem). If you copied over all the Alltel files, chances are you'd have some sort of odd unactivated Alltel phone.
Just wondering about some stuff you did during the flashing process...did you begin the flash with the phone on when you connected it to the computer? Did you wait for it to completely boot before you disconnected it after the flash? Did you Master Reset and Master Clear before the flash?
Posted by: Delox
it was on before connected, waited for complete before disconnect, did both reset and clear
should the phone be off, thjen turn on after connected?
Posted by: bluefire24
Mine was also on when I connected it before I flashed. Pretty sure that's how you're supposed to do it, so you're good there.
Did you do the Master Reset and Clear yourself after flashing, or did MultiFlashFlex do them for you? I didn't reset or clear after the flash...I did them before, and just unchecked the Master Reset/Clear checkbox in MFF. The guide said to reset and clear before flashing if you were using Alltel 4.04, and after flashing if you were using 3.16. I'm assuming you were using 4.04...maybe that's your problem?

i dont know, it worked with 4.04 at first, but when i was trying to fix all that "mms
" and "vcast" stuff, it got like this...
Posted by: bluefire24
Ohhhh...okay.
Were you very careful to get the bytes numbers for the seems right? I've heard of this problem happening before with people who just left the bytes at 60 (or something) for all the MMS seems instead of changing it each time.
Posted by: Delox
i probably screwed that up at some point. is there a way to restore that back? like a file to load into the phone for the alltel 04.04.00? if you could save yours and send it to me that would be graet too (r3noxx@gmail.com)
let me know, thanks
(ps, either way could you send your's and i can at least try it?)

The MMS seems that are on my phone right now are the same ones from the link in the flashing wiki, so sending my seems would be a bit redundant. What likely happened is that if you left, say, 60 bytes in for a seem that was 40 bytes, you overwrote 20 bytes of the next seem with empty data, which I'm guessing could cause problems like you're experiencing.
You could try reloading the MMS seems, being very careful to get the byte values right, but I would reflash before trying it again (because blank spaces in the seems might still remain otherwise). If you want to be extra certain that everything's okay, try reflashing some Verizon firmware on there before you reflash the Alltel firmware. Then after the reflash, try the MMS seems again very carefully (I found it was helpful to print out the list of seems and check them off as I finished them).

I did that on a USCC vc3. I flashed with the stock firmware with the MultiFlash/Flex in PST with a master reset and clear. After I got the screen back I erased the bad skin.
I noticed something with some of the skins from darklodge. Some of the Skins are the stock moto skin that have been moded.
You can tell by looking at how many dat files are included in the file. If there more than 3 dat files I stay away from those. They will overwrite the stock moto skin on the phone.
The Files with 3 dat files are the sub skins that have been modded. Like Scarlet and Techno (or the Verzion equivelent). If any of those present a problem they can be more easily remided by just plain erasing them.

That's very interesting, Village Idiot. I didn't know that. Guess I'll have to keep it in mind. Just looked at all the skins I put on my phone from DarkLodge, and yes, they all have a small number of .dat files. The other skins I have are the converted KRZR skins - they have about 4-5 .dat files but they still work fine. Weird that the larger ones do that even when they're not named Moto.
Anyway, though, I don't think Delox's problem involves skins. This happens when he's fixing MMS, before he starts skinning the phone.
Thanks for the helpful info, though.

Hey, I've had to have flashjed back to verizon then back to alltell with 10 different versions by now, and everytime i go back to alltel i get the same problem.
anyway, ill try to redo the seeming, thanks

Tried the seeming, did nothing. is there any way to upload an entire "seem" system i guess you would call it. Like if someone were to send me theres as 1 file, and i could just upload that?
