Dash (S620) Very Slow POP3 Email "Logging In..."

Is anyone else seeing this.

For comparison, my lowly Treo600 on GPRS can authenticate with Comcast.NET in less than a second.

On my new Dash, it can take over a minute

I've tried it both on WiFi as well as Edge, so it's not the transport.
And given the Treo's speedy abilities via lowly GPRS, it's not Comcast's Mailserver either.

It must also not be anything related to Name lookup because it gets past the "Locating" step quickly.

Called Tech Support (level 2) @ T-Mobile and they were apparently not aware of any systemic problem, so I'm going to attempt to swap the Dash this weekend and see if it's device specific.

Any others noticing this?

Some may ask why I care so much. But note that - while logging in (and downloading email) - calls cannot come in (assuming one is using Edge). Personally, I hate missing calls like this and having to "poll" voicemail to see who called - assuming they even left a message. I'm comfortable living with the Treo's 1 second (to log in and check for mail) every 15 minutes. Taking over a minute each time is unacceptable to me.

well not sure it might be the phone, my phone takes 2-3 seconds to log into my school email, gmail...takes about 20 seconds for Hotmail because i have many folders and files there that are always updated when connecting...but nothing slower than id expect?

Went back to T-Mobile this evening to swap my Dash for another one given at least one data point (ebaydan777's) not being so bad. Alas, the POP3 "Logging In..." delay was identical on a replacement Dash. So I simply returned it.

Surprised, VERY SURPRISED, nobody else has reported this issue. For reference, I'm using a simple POP3 email account from Comcast.NET - as must be pretty common for Dash users. Horrible "Logging In..." delay - at least a minute (whether via Edge or Wi-Fi).

Again, my lowly Treo600 w/ ChatterMail accomplishes this step (over just GPRS mind you) in about a second.

My search for a Treo600 replacement goes on...

The issue that I am having after setting up my prodigy.net POP account (multiple times) is that when I attempt to log in, it keeps asking me for my password. After the password is entered, I get prompted for it again, and again, and again. I did log into the MEdia Net site to add my Prodigy account information. I also logged into my Prodigy account to make sure POP settings were correct. I've had to take a deep breath and count to 10 a few times.

it takes about 2mins for my comcast mail also...

I have comcast also. Using the tmobile email setup I was able to have email sent to me automatically using their triggers. This works really well with hardly any lag. Now I forward my mail to mail2web and have it pushed. This also works good.

I have always had delays logging into comcast directly through my smartphones.
