Area/Region Code Prefix Troubles

I just recently bought the D900 and whacked my simcard from the old E800 into my new phone. Normally in the Messages Inbox each sms received has the corresponding Contact's name, but with my new D900 when I go into the Inbox all my messages from my contacts have the +61 prefix (Australia Country/Region Code), which makes the phone not recognise it as one of my contacts and as a result not show their names. This is a MEGA annoyance as I have to look at the last few digits of the number each time and then search for those same number in my Phonebook to match it with my corresponding Contact to find out who sent me the message.

What I want to know/find out is whether it is possible to stop the '+61' Country/Region Code from popping up before my numbers so the phone can recognise the incoming messages/numbers as my Contacts and not list them as merely numbers?

Thanks heaps!!!

Jason
