Cingular video on TyTn?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: spartanrob

I can get to the Cingular Video home page, but when I click on a link it asks me to download a 'video.ram' file, then nothing. Anyone get this to work

Posted by: BeyondTheTech

.RAM files require RealPlayer for media playback. www.real.com

Posted by: spartanrob

I installed RealOne Player, now I get an error "Clip is not playable"

Posted by: hammondhui

is anyone able to get the cingular video playing on the tytn?

I believe the Mobile Tech Review (a few threads down) indicates Cingular Video is not available on the 8525.

Finally got it working. You need to set the Network to WiFi in RealPlayer (no matter how you are connected) And you also need to download the 1.1 version of RealPlayer from their site.

Posted by: hammondhui

hey spartanrob, can you post the steps on how to set it up?

basically I just need to go to the cingular video page? where is it?

and download the realplayer 1.1, right?

Posted by: pdagal

Where do you get version 1.1 of RealPlayer? The only one I can find on Real's site is v. 2.0 and that doesn't work. The file name is RealOnePlayerPPC11PR.exe but if you do an about this app, it's version 2.0.

I asked Cingular if they planned to add support for CV on the 8525, and they said they won't comment on "future products", which indicates to me that they are trying to incorporate CV in a future ROM/software update. Since they've got the Samsung BlackJack playing RAM files through Windows Media Player Mobile with added codecs, I wonder if that would be their route since Real is so outdated on WM.

Here you go

http://www.real.com/realmobile/download.html

I still need the link for Cingular Video though ....

Posted by: pdagal

That's the download page I was using (realplayer11 is actually realplayer 2 though). I'll try version 1 if it works and installs, that is.

The link is cingularvideo.cingular.com

Download and install "RealPlayer for Pocket PC 1.1 Preview Release" from here:
http://www.real.com/realmobile/down...0PC%2520Devices

In RealPlayer on the TyTn, got to Options>>Preferences>>Network and change the type to 802.11B

In IE (on the TyTn) point your browser to: cingularvideo.cingular.com

Then simply click a link, it will ask you to download a file, check the "Open file after download" box and click yes.

That's it.

I get unsupported stream on both the TyTN and 8525 (with network type set to 802.11b) using that version of the player.

Posted by: hammondhui

it worked on my tytn yay!!!!

i think you need to set up the proxy for your 3G connection too
basically put wireless.cingular.com on proxy with your connection

and do all the steps we mentioned, and you are good to go

No luck on the 8525. It keeps saying that CV is only available on supported 3g phones

As some of you have discovered, you might be able to get it to work on the TyTN/8525 with a MediaMax plan, using wap.cingular, and the Cingular proxy server.

Those of us on PDAConnect will not be able to get it to work...

The link is cingularvideo.cingular.com

http://cingularvideo.cingular.com or http://www.cingularvideo.cingular.com cannot be found on my 8525. Can you send the exact link with the protocol syntax as well?

Posted by: pdagal

To view the MediaNet home page (http://home) and the cingular video site you'll need to have a MediaNet or MediaMax plan and create a proxy under connection settings. The proxy is wireless.cingular.com and the port is 80, though the PPC should fill in the port for you. The PDA Connect plan doesn't work as far as I know.

I've got all that set up and I can download the RAM files to my TyTN and 8525. However RealPlayer complains about the file and says it can't play it .

According to a Microsoft rep I talked to during the Cingular 3G rollout, he said that firmware update will be available in start of 2007 to ensure compatibility with Cingular Video.

Or, you can always tinker with the APN and internet settings.

I did this on my 8125 and worked too.

When I click the link for the realplayer download, it just brings me to mobile media it doesn't prompt me for any downloads and I can't seem to find a DL link. Can some one send me the file? I would really really appreciate it. My email is mikef1182@mail2web.com. Thanks in advanced anyone.

You need to extract the cab file and just copy it to your phone. If you search, theres another thread from when the 8525 came out that had a link to an already extracted file.

Posted by: msfullen

ok i will try that, thanks

Posted by: msfullen

i may have a problem trying to find that thread that came out.
