While huting in KS today I lost my freaking 8125 with a 1gig Mini SD card in it in a heavy grass field. We looked for hours but no luck. It's a lost cause. Of course I had it on vibrate as well so I can't hear it.

Cingular support is not in right now so I assume I need to cancel it in case someone finds it.

My question to every is...My SIMM card was also in it so does that mean I'll have to change my phone number?

Guess I'll have to get a new one....killer all that $$$ wasted!

I'll have to live without a phone for a few days becase I'm not going to get another 8125 with the new one coming out in a few days.

Wonder if I can get them to make a deal on the 8125 since the new one is about out?

You don't have to cancel your line. All you should do right now is call cingular and tell them to put a temporary hold on your account until you get a new phone. Then when you decide on what phone to buy, all you need to do is get a new sim and new phone and then you are all set to go again with your same phone number.

If you are concerned about it, you can have Cingular suspend your account temporarily. You should be able to do this 24x7, not just during their skimpy CS hours.

You will not need to change your phone number. When you get your new SIM they will just associate that with your current phone number.

sounds like a great reason to get an 8525 to me

I have an old flip phone I got before the 8125. Would it be ok to just have them activate it for a few weeks until the 8525 is readily available?

There shouldn't be any charges right?

Probably just the cost of a new simm card?

It's a great reason but what kills be is the loss of $$$. I paid full price for my 8125 so $500.00 and then bought several software suits and a 1GB Mini SD. Of course the software I should be able to put back on there.

So in all I have $600.00 setting in a field somewhere

I guess lesson learned...I really thought that holster they gave with the phone would have stayed on...it's done well so far.

You can reuse the old phone. It's the SIM that matters. You might succeed to get a new SIM for free if you go to a Cingular owned shop instead of an agent location.

Next time you go hunting you may want to use your cheapo phone instead. That's one of the advantages of the SIM system.

Or maybe go for the real rustic experience and leave the phone at home or in the pickup?

Which field were you in?? GPS coordinates?? JK!

Well I went into Cingular today and they did give me a simm card free of charge. I had the activate my old phone and I"m using that now.

I don't get to upgrade until March so I'll just wait and get the 8525 then.

So I guess i'll have to leave without a pda for a few months

8525 is cheaper on eBay compared to what you get for upgrade price.

I just did an eBay search and didn't see anything under $500.00 as far as the 8525 goes. Am I not looking right?

Posted by: DougCald

I see it on Premier, but not on the Commercial site yet. Mine is on the way

edit:

Correction...it is on both sites. The commercial site shows $399.00 w/rebate.

I see it as well. Only problem is I'm not eligible for an upgrade till March...Contracts are evil

I went with the 8125 off ebay.

Reasoning:
Got it for half the price of a discounted 8525.

3G is not available in my area and I'm a pay as you go because I"m always near a Wifi point.

I was pretty happy with the 8125.

It ran fast enough for my uses as far as the processor goes.

And NO CONTRACT NEEDED Take that Cingular.
