Which carrier is better, assuming that coverage is equal at my location?

Sprint's EVDO is only $15 a month for unlimited. That's about all I know.

sprint is about $20-$40 cheaper than verizon and sprints phones aren't as "locked down" as verizon is. I recommend sprint even though I use verizon.

My reason is cause sprint has more options and is cheaper.

(This is of course the coverage is equal).

Actually, I just went through this exercise with a Treo 700p purchase. At the end of the day both services cost about the same when you add in all of the bells and whistles. Where the real difference came to light was if you were trying to use the phone as a modem (at the time, I was unaware of PDAnet). Sprint was charging $49.95/month versus Verizon at $15/month.

So in the end, if you use PDAnet as opposed to upgrading to the phone as a modem service, you'll get more minutes for a lot less at Sprint.

That being said, my company decided to go with Verizon because the phones were less expensive ($299 vs. $399) as we were paying for the modem service to be "above board".

Id get Sprint over Verzion. You have the messaging which is unlimited (Verzion offers unlimited IN txt).

Sprint's EvDO is $15 flat, Verzion is pretty expensive last time I checked.

ps: i have a full compairson chart of wireless carriers for Treo's at my blog: AndyMachead.com
