So my wife has expressed an interest in a Palm powered Treo. She checked out the 700p at the Verizon store and liked it.
Now I don't really know much about the Treos, so I went over to Palm.com and checked out their comparison chart. Hmm... if you use their web site as reference there is absolutely no difference bewteen the 700p and the 650 (except for stuff she doesn't care about, like watching movies). I checked a few more review web sites and they are similarly vague about the difference between the two.
So what's the deal? Why should I spend a premium on a 700 when I can get lightly used 650's on Ebay for $175 all day? What's the advantage and why have so many people abandoned the 650 for a 700?
Thanks for your help.

Well, there ARE other differences, such as the 700p's 1.3 mp camera & EVDO, and support for larger memory cards.
however, if your wife is just a beginning user who's just getting interested in Treos, she would probably be quite satisfied with the 650.

EVDO is the biggest improvement from the 650 to the 700P. My two cents...get the 700P. The keys are slightly bigger too which helps in texting

If you can afford the cost, the 700P is the one to seriously consider. More internal memory means that it is initially and ultimately more stable with a little bit of help.
As KA stated, the 650 is a good device and with proper memory management it is an excellent device.
I own both.
