8525 Car mount

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anybody know where I can find a car mount for the 8525? I'm looking for something that doesn't have to be mounted on the windshield. I would rather something clip into the air vent or something that plugs into the aux power and comes up and mounts onto that? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check these guys out. They have a two-piece system:

- A custom mount for your car
- A custom mount for the Hermes/TyTN/8525

Definitely a high-end solution

i was thinking about getting this

but im gonna stick to the windshield holder listed in the post above by Wozniak

I can personally tell you that the build/construction quality of most plastic universal Arkon mounts (at least the ones I've seen) are absolute cr*p... stay away!

I agree that the Pro-Clip's are really good. I have one for my Jasjar, Prophet and currently use one for the Tytn

When you buy the proclip's you actually purchase two things. A device holder for your PDA and a Clip that is specific to your car. SO make sure you pick both. The Clip for your car is specifc to your car's dash. It slip into the dash crevices with out any tools or damage to the dash. They are a little expensive compared to the universal pda holder's, but they work well. The tytn/8525 model can even be used with the keyboard open. Try that with a generic/universal model.

ok i finally viewed the flash animation on the pro clip... wasn't clear on how it actually installed

it changed my mind

which is the better one. The one that is sideways, like the phone above or the that is verticle? I will be using iguidance on it. So which way is better viewing?

I think the proclip while yes extremely expensive for a darn holder the fit to the phone, fit to the vehicle, and quality can't be beat.

I have one for my 8125 and as I look at their site the one for the Tytn actuall shows what looks like a Dopod or 8525 in the picture!

I hope that my holder for the 8125 which was listed for a KJam on their site works with the 8525... We will see. I hate to spend another $35+shipping for another cradle. But if I do I am giving the 8125 to my wife and getting her a mount for her car...

I use iGuidance and I like it in portrait mode. Since iguidance puts the road you are on and the next turn at the top and bottom of the screens in landscape it leaves too little moving map to my liking. You can see whats on your left and right more but miss some distance up ahead where it counts! Also I don't use the keypad at all while driving. I dial on the ETEN skin on my 8125 if I have to... THAT I will miss it is a WONDERFUL skin it improved the dialing on the phone 200%... I shall miss it on the Tytn...

Proclip is actually located in the Madison area. They are really nice people there, I love having the luxury of going right to their shop and picking up their clips the day I need and want them. They have by far the best solution for all vehicles. I also have a k-jam and am hoping that the 8525 will fit that holder.

So did anyone buy this? It looks like the horizontal mount can rotate 360 degrees, so one would think you could mount the 8525 either way, correct?

Posted by: Havoc21

Yeah but i got the vertical mount, it really is a professional mount without the professional installation.

It is very useful in the vertical position, looks great in my Xterra

And yes, the mount can rotate 360 degrees, but I have mine so damn tight that it won't move on it's own when i'm off-road

Does anyone know of a mount with a speaker, microphone, and power? Since my car is only a couple months old, I would like to do a more professional mount.

does it have some protective lining so it won't scratch up the phone...

Does anyone know if there's something like this available in the US for the 8525?

http://www.expansys.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=140719

That seems to be an active charging cradle. All I can find in the US are passive holders that require a car adaptor to be plugged in to charge the 8525.

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 8525: HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))

I also have the Proclips vertical cradle for my 8525. The TyTN mount is the same thing. I buy all mine from crogs571@yahoo.com at a 20% discount. I've bought several from him and had great experiences. He's a Proclips dealer but they ship directly from Proclips. Tell him I sent you. As a matter of fact, my newest powered mount which I ordered yesterday just arrived this morning.

i know this thread has beed dead for a while, but i am still looking for a vehicle mount.

the proclip is good, but it doesn't have a built in charger. i'd have to plug a y-cable into it. i don't like the idea of a hanging wire

the expansys car kit for the tytn is big and very expensive. i only need the holder.

i've been scouring the internet, but haven't found anything else. does anyone else know of anything?

I have been using the Akrpo CM923 Cup Holder PDA Mount.

http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.php

Here is a pic

The 8525 is running iGuidance Navigation software and the small silver box below the PDA is a GlobeStat BT359 GPS.

The 8525 supports the Bluetooh A2DP profile. I have a Motorola DC800 Bluetooth bridge connected to an auxiliary input adapter to the factory car stereo. The 8525 will give voice prompts and stream Sirius radio over the wireless Bluetooth link.

Mot DC800 - http://www.store.motorola.com/mot/e...wAddButton=true

Aux car adapter - http://www.pie.net/store/index.cfm?...tails&ItemID=26

The only cable connected to the 8525 is a USB adapter.

Everything is powered by a 1A 12v to USB adapter. That is feed into a 4 port USB hub. The 4 port hub has 4 USB wires with mini USB ends. They provide power to the 8525, BT359 GPS, the Mot DC800 BT Bridge, and the last one I use to charge my Bluetooth headset.
