I would like to know if this is possible, I have tested it in my friend's unlocked n70 and it seems to work fine, any long term issues?

Also can I get the web to work and use email/text/maps on the n70? I have ran a quick search and haven't found anything useful on this, maybe a little assistance will do the trick.

Plus I heard there's a place around 77th and Broadway that has the phone for $250 unlocked, any better pricing?

The reason I'm trying to switch is that the LG CU500 isn't holding RF well in my apartment (ground fl. basement) in the NE Bronx. I have had perfect reception with my previous phones on T-mobile and I hear Nokia has great RF so I'm hoping it will hold a conversation because this nearly causes an argument every time I'm on the phone.

Thanks for your help!

I live in the NE Bronx also and I wouldn't recommend using a phone that doesn't support the 850MHz band. As to your experience on T-Mobile that might just be a case of the T-Mobile site/tower being close to where you live. If you must have a Nokia, though, consider the E60, 6125, 6131, E70-2, N73, or wait on the N75. A Motorola RAZR/KRZR also get excellent reception.

If you are on Cingular you will need a phone with both 850 and 1900 in most places. Why not pick up a 6682, N73, N80. E50 is also in your range.

I do like the N73, although the eBay prices are insane.

Do you know if there are any decent AIM apps for these Nokias? Decent as in using data for communication, and NOT Agile Messenger

You have a point about the 850mhz, I didn't realize this at first, my SIM must've worked in my friends phone because a 1900mhz network was available.

I will look into these phones now as well.

Thank you!

Edit: At this point, I really like the E60. WiFi as well as smartphone functions, still a small form factor and although it doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard, I could make due with it. I do like the E62, but I have moved away from QWERTY devices especially when Cingulars data plans are so frivelous.

Edit #2: I just realized the E60 lacks 850mhz support as well, although some bs ebay auction claimed it had it

I have to find a similar phone... Wifi, 850mhz, decent battery life, and Nokia.

Any recommended places for finding the N73 for under $400?

I don't think I have seen it for less than $400.

Nokia E70-2 has what you're looking for, but it's not less than $400 either.
