A707 after a full day of use ..

its going back tommorrow morning

1. terrible sound -- everyone sounds like they are in a tin can

2. it actually is a little bulkier than i wanted

but the sound and cutting in and out of signal is really bad

it was used in and around san fran and san jose --- all day today ...

terrible ....

which hoods in SF? I am in the sunset/sfsu area. I was considering this phone because it is free to me right now with my employer discount.

ouch, sorry to hear it. i'm happy to report i get excellent call quality and can hear quite well. bulkiness...well hey...you need real estate for that screen.

/central coast, ca.

agreed..don't know why some say its bulky..I'm looking at mine sitting beside my v3i and the only obvious difference is the thickness. Much smaller and us fat fingered Americans won't be able to dial! I had the sound in and out issues with the CU500, as well as dropped calls and terrible BT quality.

I am actually ..very ticked off with how bad this phone is ..

now i have to return it to .com . and wait atleast 2 weeks before i can "UPGRADE" again ..

really puts a sour taste in my mouth ..

The lack of an email app that supports unique mail servers (rather than just giant corporate mail providers i.e. Yahoo, MSN) is a real black eye.

Posted by: sanboy22

i think the bigger black eye is the terrible reception and terrible sound . LOL

Posted by: sanboy22

does the 3 G sim card have anythign to do with reception ?

i know sound quality is one's opinion, but i wonder if you just got a bum device....i played with a 707 extensively concentrating mostly on call quality and thought it was one of the best cingy has offered in a while...on par with Moto's.....no hissing...background noise...just seemed clear.
I didn't pay much attention to the cing video/music sound.....

Agreed i've had crystal call quality and great reception. Could be the area he's in as well.

Don't you think that is something more associated with a smartphone?

I have had really no problems with call quality and RF has been pretty solid, not as good as my 6682, but I feel that is one of the best.

My two biggest problems are the charging port.....what was samsung thinking, its a pain in the *** to put the cord in and my second is that it annoys me the number scrolls across the front lcd when a call is coming in....I have to wait to see what it is because I always miss the first half......

Also......CV is disappointing on that screen....

Overall though I give it a thumbs up.......let's remember the price paid for this thing. In the past 49.99 or free got you a little nokia that could only make and receive calls.

call quality on mine is crystal clear

Sanboy, can you tell me which neighborhoods gave you problems in SF? Thanks in advance.

Posted by: sanboy22

i was around the airport .. downtown .. and over by the zoo ..

as you can tell i was all over that city .. LOL

san jose area .. i was here there and everywhere as well ..

terrible no matter where i went ..

c.s - allowed me to purchase a different phone today . and they shipped it today . .and told me to return the samsung whenever i want to within the 30 days to get credit for it on my card ...

theres your problem...the state you're in! lol

If those email features are normally associated with a smartphone (I am coming from a Treo), they shouldnt be by now. If Cingular is going to market it as having "mobile email", that should mean a POP3 or IMAP mail program. Otherwise, every phone that has a web browser is email capable.

As far as the price, in my case I paid $125 in total. Because of a situation I had with Cingular, I was only able to upgrade at the 1 year price, but was able to get the rebate (so $225-$100). That said, I am being more scrutinizing about the phone.

There are *a lot* of things I like about this phone. Unfortunately, there are a lot I dont as well. If I can find out how the V3xx really stacks up against the 707, I might switch to that when it comes out.

I'm on my third A707 in 2 days. What a piece of sh*t this thing is! With the first phone, after I paired my bluetooth headset, it later showed up as a blank bluetooth device with a exclamation point in the "my devices" screen and I couldn't remove the blank device or get the bluetooth to turn off. The second and now the third phone is even worse. On both, I turned the phone off, then turned it back on. The phone boots up to the main screen, locks up and then reboots itself. It will do this indefinitely. I've removed the battery and sim chip then reinstalled it and it still does it. The only thing I've added to either of these phones is one ringtone.
