If I have one more blue customer tell me that they are cingular i am going to shoot something!!!! NO YOU ARE NOT CINGULAR! DID YOU SIGN A CINGULAR CONTRACT? ARE YOUT TALKING ON A CINGULAR PHONE? NO!
Of course you pay your bill to us, we are merging, but if your SIM card says ATT... guess what?!!?!

Posted by: Superpimp

It's ok man relax it's not the end of the world the customer just needs to be properly educated as to what exactly is going on

Posted by: iam4161987

its not that.. its when they argue with you. My customer spent 20 minuites telling me that I was wrong. We have BAD ATT signal here, becuase they keep shutting them down and setting them up orange. Its not that they arent educated, its that they arent listening.

Hello?!?

Cingular is the one that is responsible, not the customer. Cingular put out all that marketing spin to convince AT&T customers that they were Cingular customers now. Don't blame the customer for that.

Posted by: SuxBeingU

Ifv you write a check to Cingular every month its safe to assume you are a Cingular customer. I can certainly see where they are confused. This isn't as important to most as it is to us here

"But the phone says cingular and my bill says Cingular"

Mam everything says cingular but your technically still att

"Then why does it say Cingular and not ATT. I think your wrong"

Ahh forget it!!

Posted by: cingtd

Technically, former Blue customers are Cingular now. Those w/ the former AT&T plans are Cingular customers w/ grandfathered plans.

Refreshing, I'm blue! And a grandfather.

Really though, I think Cingular blue is looked on as a way to get a new account for sales!

Posted by: cingtd

My only point is that we have to get over the "blue vs orange" labels and accept the fact that both are Cingular (soon to be AT&T again, don't get me started).

No, the ones I hate are those customers that just want to pay a bill... had one the other day that wanted to pay. Asked him for his phone number, he gave it and there was no such account, so I ask again for the cellphone number... which he said he gave it to me. I tried it again, still no results. Then I try by social... still no account. I ask for his phone, to scan IMEI or SIM or something... and he pulls out a Sprint phone. I pointed to the logo, he walked out without a word...

This happens all the time our store is next to a T-Mobile store and people just walk in wait in line to pay bills and then get mad because they've just spent 20 minutes in the wrong store

Posted by: iam4161987

I feel bad for the customers who dont notice that everything is ORANGE and BLUE, not Pink, Not Red, and not Yellow. If you cant read, maybe you can notice the color difference. I really cant stand the ones who come in, "Hey, do you know where Sprint/T-Mobile/Verizon is?" As a matter of fact i do... but I'm not telling you. Or who come in to "port" and tell you the whole time how much better their current carrier is then us... then y r u here???

Posted by: gammite

well imagine your frustration when you have to migrate legacy blue to the new att. lol, there are going to be some nice battles at retail and b2b.

Posted by: iam4161987

Okay since we are talking about the Cingular/ATT issue.. i have a question.... we are going to "eventually" change to ATT again, I know not ATT Wireless, but the customers are going to think we are nuts when we try to tell it to them like that. What was the point of making everyone leave ATT Wireless to come to Cingular, only to make them go to ATT AGAIN, (Wireless or not) after the merger is complete? Am I the only one that thinks this is a little crazy??? This one is going to be fun to try to explain to a customer....

Its simple the alpha tag on the display of the phone says cingular. This is because cingular owns the network/rights to the customer. The SAME phone used to say ATT. The customer saw their billing also change to cingular branding. The customer is in need of education as to the reality of the situation.

me mr customer you remember when you got your phone and plan it said ATT on the door. Your plan and phone are exactly the same as it was that day. Today we sell cingular plans and phones here are the benefits of the plans....

customer oh ok so where are your free phones?

IMHO

Yes we are trying to upgrade you to orange if your ablue customer.
1. if your blue chances are you have old equipment
2 if your blue you do not have rollover
3 if your blue you could have a plan that charges roaming
4 if your blue and your in my store your there for a reason probably because your phone is old and worn out
5 you get better deals than new customers if your blue.. so enjoy and join the us.

The new phones this season are awesome. UMTS phones and some saaaweeet smart phones!!

When cingular changes back to ATT it will be a simple rebranding. Simple no reason for anyone to get all upset...

If you're a blue customer you probably have:
A - free incoming SMS
B - better plan in terms of minutes including bonuses
C - manual network select

You might also have:
D - North America package

There are many reasons to want to stay blue, especially if you don't need a high tech phone.

There are fewer and fewer reasons to stay Blue. What do you need manual network selection?

You also pay twice as much for your text package than a cingulartext package... makes that a non issue.

If someone looks you up in VIP tool you may get 200 bonus minutes on your new plan....

Do you use all your minutes?

Everyone eventually changes just because they want new equipment at a good price.

Ahh, yea I changed some . I still am/have blue but instead of going orange I did Sprint. I really didn't see the need to spend three times more for data and my plan is quite cheep. Actually both of my plans, together, are less that one orange plan!

But then again I don't see any difference between Sprint and Cingular's service.

Two Things:

1: AT&T Customers have nights starting @ 7 for free. Some of them have unlimited plans. Some Have free incoming calls. Some have free Texting. And THEY ARE OFTEN MUCH CHEAPER FOR MORE MINUTES.

2: If you are still on AT&T you're either cheap, lazy, or a genius.

As for the rebranding, the word legacy will become your friend.

One Love,
Prom

I cant stand dealing with blue customers. All they want is free free and free. Ive come to the point where they ask for free stuff and i just say no this is a store we sell things. Then i make direct eye contact with the customer. The expect me to be joking, but when they dont see my smile they get all weird and awkward. The look on there faces is priceless.

i get people that call in saying they got two cingular bills, i ask them for the account numbers on each bill, 1 is singular and the other is *gasp* former at&t!
cust: but i left them 2 months ago:
me: well there must still be a balance
cust: but this bill says cingular so can't i just pay you
me: nope unfortunaly not, have to speak with former at&t
cust: well why does my bill say cingular
me: *hanging myself with the phone cord*
