Slingbox + Blackjack + DVR

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Okay this video is from a cheap digital camera so I found out there was no sound. This demonstrates the 3g network with Slingbox Mobile and using a DVR. I recorded the Hip Hop Awards last night and currently watching the game on ESPN. The quality is not the best right now (Slingbox needs and updater for this phone) but this at least shows the capability of Picture in Picture on a cell phone (Blackjack). Hope you enjoy this. Oh and sorry abou tthe bathroom location, its the only place I have the best lighting.

Check it out:

I needs to get me a SlingBox ASAP. The Blackjack and 3G connection will be taken care of tomorrow.

I was showing my coworkers how I can control my dvr via the slingbox pro on my Blackjack...and they were flipping out. One said this is the first thing that i've seen in a while that just makes me go WOW. OH yeah...I work in advertising...on the Verizon Wireless account

Once 320x240 is supported and not just an upscalled 160x120...I will be in heaven!

Duuuude...me likey!!!!

Lets be honst here though, do you guys that have Slingbox really use it, or is it something that wears off pretty quick?

Use it every day and now I can watch or even record shows I want from the comfort of my phone.

I use it all the time...I mainly use it to catch up on the DVR'd shows that I have sitting on my SA 8300HD. Its great if you have time to kill or are in front of a computer all day and just want some background. Now I have total control of my DVR anywhere I have reception. Pretty amazing.

Thats the best part...in case theres something that you forgot to record...you can just schedule it on the fly.

How did you get your slingbox software working on the blackjack? Everybody else says it doesnt work!

From my other post:
Okay for all my current Sling box users, here is a workaround until there is a beta version for this smartphone orginally posted by TriNe0 @ slingboxes web forum (sorry TriNe0 I couldnt wait to share the news)

It seems the issue is that the sling player doesn't properly support the native resolution of the BlackJack's screen (320x240) (TriNe0 figured this out because I could see the video when TriNe0 pressed the menu button...). Here's what you need to do:

1. Launch sling mobile player but do not connect

2. click on Menu > Player Options > Encoding

3. Scroll down, and uncheck "auto resolution mode"

4. Change the video resolution to "160x120"

5. Hit OK...and you're set!

The downside is that, unless you view in full screen, the size of the image is real small... But watching it in full screen should be fine... and hopefully the picture quality will improve if Sling can get this to work in 320x240...

Tested and it does work and allow you to get a full screen ( a little blurry) but a bigger screen nonetheless.

I used ORB to stream tv from my Media Center TV PC the other day when I got my CU500. Worked pretty well. Can't wait to try using my 8525

thanks for the how to!

I got my slingbox working on my blackjack thanks to your instructions. Are you able to get the favorites working?, that doesn't seem to work for me by pressing the # key. Thanks in advance.

Great Thread very informative. I was going to buy a 8525 but looks like i might settle for a BlackJack
