Insurance for BlackJack?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ordered the 8525 last night, reconsidering it now...

No insurance options via Cingular...

Is the BlackJack covered by Insurance?

On a side note, I asked the CS rep last night if I could insure my phone, he was quick to sign me up for insurance on my 8525, and I was shocked, since their website clearly says they don't insure that. I informed him of this, and made him feel like a tool. It was fun.

Cingular does not insure any smartphone/pda/high end phone. Does anyone know of any places that will?

The rule of thumb for phone insurance is if the phone is worth insuring, then they won't! If the phone is cheap enough to not justify paying insurance, then they will offer insurance. Their logic is totally backwards.

It's called making $$$. Too expensive to replace expensive phones.

Almost true, but I have the 6682, which is a smartphone that is covered. There are a few phones that are covered, just don't have a list in front of me, that you would not think are covered.

Asurion, Cingular's new way of thinking (insurance), have expressed that they are in talks with us in regards to covering PDAs, and smartphones, like T-mobile does. The just have to come up with what the costs would be.

It's funny that T-Mobile was the last carrier to offer phone insurance and now they are ahead of Cingular in that aspect.

I didn't get coverage at first because I wasn't told to, but when I called CS, the rep informed me that I should get the insurance....so I did. Am I paying for something that is not even covered????

They'll honor it from what i hear... i'm not sure about a PDA, but i've seen it happen on a LG CU500, and also MPX220. Just tell them the rep added it and didnt mention it wasnt insurable... but then again, this is a PDA

Here's the website for insuarable/not insurable phones.
Wireless Phone Insurance

It says PDAs are NOT covered, so no, blackjack (even though its a smartphone) is not covered
