For everyone saying 3G drains your battery, it is possible to switch manualy

this link shows you how to select which network, or preferred networks you use, allowing you to pick GSM instead of 3G to conserve battery life. Hope this helps some of you!

Interesting that they enabled Network Selection - they disable it on all other phones. The 3125 doesn't have the ability to select Manual Network selection on that screen.

The instructions don't seem to work on my Blackjack. There is no network selection field on that screen.

I beleive I will order one and try these settings.

My Blackjack doesn't have that option either. Not sure how to accomplish this.

Looks like they disabled the feature, the dropdown isn't there

the morons at Cingular shouldve enabled this option for people like myself that work in a 3G area which currently's been down for the past three days.

nothing like having to wait until you get out of that certain area before you can use the damn phone.

I do not have the option either. Might we get to it somewhere else?

This would be a life saver for me. After playing with my device for a hour today I have already recieved "the battery is low" notification.

Does the phone not automatically use EDGE (if available) when you are not in a 3G area (or in your case, the 3G network is down)?

my building is in a 3G area which is all fine and dandy when the 3G actually works. but the other day, our local 3G cell site took a dump which made my phone litterally useless because it would not fall back on EDGE.

at least now I can manually change the network settings which is obviously a God's send.

Very interesting. But I don't have a selection. All I have is "Cingular". And when I try to find a new network, I get an error message saying "The settings could not be saved". Any idea what is happening?
