8525 having trouble connecting

I'm at a conference in Chery Hill, NJ, and I have the 8525, but I'm a little disappointed because it is having trouble connecting to the network, despite the clear service in the area.
I am posting right now on a 3G laptop card, but my 8525 can't find service! Sometimes it grabs UMTS, but then it switches to GPRS, and finally it loses all service. 
Is this a software glitch? Or is it a problem with the network?
Anyone else having trouble?
Even with little or no network functionality, the phone is awesome, but it's pretty annoying to have a 3G phone, and 3G available, but not receive any service at all.
