Is Softbank still offering the Happy Bonus Package? The reason for this is that I will be living in Japan for 6-8 months and was wondering if i can cancel the contract when I head home. If not, I guess the pre-paid service is my best bet?

just check their website for more details.
here's the english page link. http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/en/price_plan/

It doesn't really mention anything about the Happy Bonus in their site...well not to my findings. Does anyone else know if its still out there or knows about alternative methods?

No, Happy Bonus is finished now, they only offer Super Bonus to new subscribers. I suggest you get Babelfish out (babelfish.altavista.com) and do some translating of the K-tai Watch news articles on the subject, unless you can wait to get to Japan to get a Softbank shop employee who speaks English to explain the new offer to you.

Lol, do what I did. Get service from a company, then when its time to come home, just don't pay!

Hahahahah. I guess I will never be a Docomo customer again.
