Can V3c play .MMF files?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I tried transferring a MMF file to my Verizon V3c, but MPT denies it. Does this mean the phone can't play back this format?
Also, are there any converters for this format, as well as players/editors for the PC?
TIA

Yes, it can play .MMF files...

Rename the file to .MID, and use the File Transfer Studio in MPT to get them on the phone.

I have tools to convert from WAV to .MMF, but not .MMF to anything else... there was an online converter that I had tried.. BUT it wasn't very good... .MMF is so low quality to start with, the conversion to MP3 adds "noise" or "static" to the sounds...

That is amazing. It worked

Now some of the files are not midi files but seem to play fine (such as cats, voices, etc.). Can you explain why this is?

Also Mark, thank you so much for making available the LG files. I d/l them from your page for curiosity and there a lot of goodies

Is there a software available to play MMF on my computer?

Thanks again.

Yamaha SMAF files are a "compressed .wav" style sound file... like WAV's, MP3's, etc.. they contain the REAL SOUND recorded.

Renaming to .MID is NOT the same as Converting.. For an explanation see -> http://www.howardforums.com/showpos...84&postcount=20

Renaming as .MID the phone knows its a sound file, and it seems the Phone does not use the extension to identify the file type, so it can handle them properly and play them back...

so, record something as a .WAV, convert to .MMF, rename to .MID and drop on the phone... Then again... To use the Free Yamaha converter Wav/MP3s to be converted into .MMF Ring Tones must be MONO, 16bit Audio Sample Size, and 4 or 8kHz Sample Rate or else the conversion will not work.... And that is REALLY LOW/POOR QUALITY... I'd just record on PC, and encode as a 48kbit/44khz/mono MP3 file...

PSMPlay v5.x or PSMPlayer 3.80e. Plays .MMF files on your PC and can make MMF or MIDI files louder, as wells as trim them down. Do a google search on PSMPlay to find.

Thank you. I did miss that part...should've read further. I actually was reading the topic on Motorola Messaging Suite v1.2 on your page and clicked on that link. It took me to a MOTO DEVeloper page and could not find what I was looking for. I just assumed the information was out-of-date and closed the page. Sorry :P
