Today, no matter what I try, I can't get it to connect. By the way, I am convinced that the plans are essentially the same (except for a few things with the $80 plan like CSD), and Cingular either can't tell or doesn't care if you tether. I've been doing it on my Treo for well over a year. For those of you having problems - give pda2net a try. It configures everything by itself. You just start the program and hit connect - I had that working well before I could get it working natively in OS X. It's free to try and may solve your problems. I can still connect with launch2net by the way, so there is no problem with my plan. http://www.novamedia.de/e_pages/e_produkte_mac_l2n.html |

after 3 days of unsuccessful attempts. i've now got USB tethering working. i followed the main post until, but had 3 variations. 1. i unchecked the "wait for dual tone before dialing" in sys prefs/network/modem tab 2. i used the "http://www.taniwha.org.uk/files/" Generic GPRS CID1 script 3. i changed the telephone number to "wap.cingular" and it popped right up... it's not very fast - but it werks... fyi - this is in milwaukee, with EDGE, as HSDPA is not available yet... i'll try the 3G script in chicago on my way to work monday. this is a black core 2 duo macbook. i've also got a dual boot with xp, i'll test speeds accordingly. |
