What cool software can be downloaded on this phone?

Is google maps supported on the phone like it is in the blackberry?

Also I heard that you can get a bluetooth GPS Receiver for this phone and have navigation on it? Anyone put this to a test yet? Anyone know the approx price for the GPS Receiver?

What kind of cool programs are downloadable to this phone. I am new to Pocket PC / Windows Mobile Devices. I want to know what it offerers before I try and purchase this unit.

Thank you for your help in advanced.

I don't mean to be a stickler, but you need to peruse this site and search around. Just read around. Your best bet is to figure out what you need like Instant Messenging and do a search. You wil find tons of information.

Google Maps seems a bit unstable at the moment, I don't think they know what the device is yet. Virtual Earth Mobile seems to work great, Map4PDA works but sometimes stops downloading data and then crashes on exit.

There are two great lists of software on this site (as stickies) one for freeware and one for comercial stuff...

wat about some software to access files on my desktop pc at home hooked up to a cable connection? I know when i had the treo 650 for 2 weeks i was able to access files like word and excel files or pics and view them off the treo??

also wat about instant messaging? I would need a nice program similiar to the capabilities of AIM on a tmobile sidekick. Full Buddylist view, multiple convos, alerts of new IMs etc.

I didn't think it was possible, but VeriChat comes close. It isn't as fast and is harder to maneuver. This is free. I hear of other programs that are not free and are said to be better, but to me part of better is the cost being non-existent.

I tried to install Google Maps and it said it wasn't compatible with my phone. They then recommended Google Maps for "High End" phones. I installed it with some trouble. Basically some pop up boxes were getting hidden behind other windows. After a second attempt it finished the install. It doesn't work very well currently. The menu option doesn't open up and you can't load satelite images. But everything else worked. I uninstalled it until they release a newer version.

you need to get another java program(ibm java sphere ) for google maps to work, try either maps4pda ( you need net compact 2) or virtual maps both are free
