The Blackberry had a few nice features when on silent mode that really made a difference.

1) You could have different vibrating buzzes for email, meeting reminders, and phone calls. This was great in that you knew the pattern for a call vs other things and could ignore until you got out of your meeting.

2) The BB allowed a priority list. Email addresses on this list could be given a different notification.

Anyone know how to replicate this on the Blackberry?

You can do different notifications for reminders, emails, SMS, voicemail, etc. And then, edit the profile to do things like Ring, Ring and Vibe, etc for each of those notifications.

For the email, I don't think you can do anything without some kind of 3rd party app.

One thing the smartphone doesn't do is assign one ring tone for known and unknown callers. The PPC OS does allow that option.
