Anyone know how I can get the 6.27 firmware onto this phone? I got a cingular nokia 9300, but its of 6.03 firmware. The 6.27 firmware has support to show a "new email" icon on the top screen and also do notification sounds on this. Very useful in my case. So, really looking into getting this feature!

i tried hooking my 9300 up to the nokia software updater software and it isn't supported. it would be nice to have the new firmware on it.

FYI: I am not too sure if its true however I called iunlock and spoke to the rep on hand who said the firmware can be updated by them regardless if it's cingular branded or not. I believe they charge only 30 dollars to update the firmware. You can also have the phone unlocked as well for a couple bucks more. You send the phone out and they have a guranteed same day turn around apon receiving the phone of course. I am really thinking about sending mine in. Those features would deffently be icing on my cake. Here is a link:

If anyone else has tried this please give me feedback on it. On the site there is only one person who has replied to this operation. I also wonder if it would even really matter (cingular or not) since they do unlock phones as well. I am really leaning towards taking the gamble and will report via review if I do.

iunlock is VERY reputable, and I know a lot of people have used them on this forum. I know the 9500 got a new firmware, so I believe them when they say that they have a 9300 firmware. This will unbrand the phone (removing all cingular specific elements), and unlocking just means you can use any sim card.

Man, that's a lot of updates but I wonder what this means:

* Support for new memory chip (old chip came to end of life cycle)

Does that mean you can use a different type of memory in the device? I know that MMC and SD are close enough in size to be related, but I didn't think they were that swapable.

Thats good to hear that they have good history w/ trust. I can only imagine that they were hitting on the fact that they have improved the memory were it can now accept higher memory capacity cards. The mmc card drive in the phone it self can not support the sd format. They would have to upgrade it inorder for this to be possible. However I am happy about iunlock having the firmware b/c my phone is cingular branded and I lack all of these features as of now however. Thirty dollars isnt bad at all for that huge list . I just have to figure a time frame of when I will be willing to send the phone off. I will miss that battery life( its the best).

When you upgraded you mentioned that you lost the BB Connect. Have you tied to reinstall it? I'm using an unlocked 9300 w/ T-Mobiles BB service ($25/ mo unlimited) and I want to upgrade it but I would like to know if the BB Connect lient can be reinstalled. And which version.

I was not able to reinstall bbc after my f/w upgrade. From the nokia business site I installed bbc on my e70-2 no problem.Didn't like the way it operated so I removed it. Nokia app installer wouldn't recognize my 9300.Maybe Iunlock could do it when they install the f/w.I also didn't notice all those listed changes but I never use my devices to the max anyway, probably why I have so few problems with them. I think the upgrade was worth it tho, just for the increased browser speed alone....my .02

Edit: There are other email options out there. When i did have bbc on the 9300, pre upgrade I found it constantly alerting me all the time in meetings and places I preferred to keep a low profile. With no vibe feature it was a tad embarrassing at times. I use yahoo mail plus service and now I have my mail delivered to my devices with 2 key presses. I actually have come to like this method better. I'm using a tytn now tho. My 9300 is temporarily shelved next to my e70-2. I like variety....cheers........

Keep in mind you will lose the OZ IM program if you upgrade to a non branded firmware.

Edit update: Was wondering if anyone has had luck re-installing bbc after the 6.27 upgrade. I still can`t get pc suite to recognize my phone. I use it with t-mo and it is unlocked. I had bbc working perfectly with old f/w. It`s not a huge deal but anybody sending to iunlock for upgade might want to ask if they can somehow do it for you.
I feel like I`m missing some real simple detail that I`ve overlooked re: pc suite or the install. Oh well, I can still pull emails with 2 button pushes.

Yes, the browser is quite a bit quicker. If it`s a sacrifice between the bbc tho I`d rather pass probably. That would be my advice. If you do it with iunlock you might ask them if they know a way to re-install bbc. I can`t get pc suite to recognize my 9300 with the new f/w, so I can`t sync or anything either.I really like the s60 operating system of my e70, and to have that in the 9300 device`s form would be a slick device I think. I may go for the e90 and shelve/sell this baby later. Save your $$ for E90!

is it possible to perform a register like action inorder to memic the internet browser on the updated firmware? Myself as stated before do not wish to lose the sync function. However after experiencing the Treo 750 speed My nokia sits in the drawer. If I could get a little more speed out of it, it would deffently see more sunlight lol. Just a thought; I know its an old unit however I love the format until I can afford the e90
