Blackjack RSS Reader

Anyone try the Samsung RSS reader that comes with the BlackJack?

It only seems to be able to update feeds 25% of the time for me. I usually get a good feed update or it takes a long time and eventually errors out saying it lost the connection.

I know it's not a site issue as IE on the same phone is able to see the feed url.

I'm wondering if it's some timeout issue waiting for the hostname/domain to resolve. Anyone else experience this?

This is my first time using any type of RSS reader and i'm quite confused, when I click on a certain article it connects me to the website, I thought the purpose of RSS was to eliminate this and bring everything to your phone, so you can just read the articles whenever you want and not worry about connecting to the net. Am I wrong?

The UI is a bit confusing... once you go into a feed, the top half of the screen is the list of articles and the bottom half is the currently selected article's contents. You use the up/down keys to select the article. You then use the left/right keys to get to the article. The right key will cause the focus to shift the article contents and you can then use the up/down keys or the jog dial to scroll the text. Use the left key can be used when inside the article contents to go back to the article list. If at anytime you use the OK button, it will take you to the website that holds the main article.

I wish there was an option to make the OK button the one used to enter the article contents but that's not the way Samsung designed it unfortunately. Also, I wish there was a way to just get the text instead of any images but that doesn't seem to be an option either.

Anyhow, I'm still seeing the feed update only work 25% of the time which is quite annoying. I'm guessing this is still a timeout bug and I hope they fix it in an update at somepoint.

the contents of hte article on mine is just like 2 sentences long, is that normal?

I'm having the same issues, can't seem to get it to update regularly and when I force it to update it comes back 'Done' but nothing has changed

Not sure about the two sentences issue. I'm using the reader to pick up Gizmodo feeds and I get the full article. The only issue is that it doesn't update all the time.

Depends on how the specific feed is setup by the creator. If they include the entire description then it shouldn't direct it to the website, but sometimes they don't and that's probably why the reader is redirecting you.

how do i set the specifics? I feel like I have gone through every setting.

howardforums.com has a mobile page... you can choose which of subscriptions show up in your mobile "view" as you may not want to see all of them from your phone.
