Verizon V325i & modding (on a mac?)

So, I received a new Verizon CDMA V325i last night. I know, silly low-end phone, but the price was right and my family situation dictated that this was the time for a phone. I'm interested in doing some basic modding, mainly to get a new wallpaper up there. Other modding would be interesting too, but I lack the intestinal fortitude to go big with my brand new phone right out of the gate. My primary computer is a powerbook running OS 10.4.8, but I also have a WinXP desktop I can use if needed.

So, two questions: I know the V325i I've received is a new-ish revision, with Bluetooth. The firmware version displays as "MLNBT1_01.07.00R" Does this differentiate the phone significantly enough from a vanilla V325 that instructions for modding the V325 are liable to damage my phone?

Second, what modding strategy will be most effective? I've already downloaded the OSX build of moto4lin and configured it for my phone with CyberGreg's instructions from the second page of http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=701049 (its post ~19 or 20, for those of you with non-standard posts-per-page) but I'm still seeing the

[info] Phone connected as P2K
[error] Unable to get phone model
[error] Unable to get drive name
[error] Unable to get file count
[error] Unable to get drive name

problems.

The mac.motoguide.com site suggests that moto4lin is incompatible with CDMA phones. Is this true? If so, will I have any luck with p2kman or any of the Windows tools? I've read that MPT can be made to work with a SEEM edit, but (1) I'm cheap, and (2) I'm a bit squeamish about bricking my brand new phone.

I appologize in advance for the n00bish questions.

I've done the seem edit on good old seem 2742 and it appears to have no effect on OBEX. Boner!
