902T on Cingular - Browser/MMS Settings?

A little while ago, I had my Japanese Vodafone 902T unlocked, and it works just fine as a regular phone on the US Cingular network (Seattle area, if it makes a difference). But then, you don't pay $200 to just have a regular phone. I want to be able to send e-mail and access internet sites, maybe even run Java apps, and reports of others lead me to believe that this is possible.
I searched Google for the settings for this thing, and I've entered the following settings, and they don't work:
Browser/Java
-------------
Profile Name: MEdia Net
NAP Selection: VFJP Network (this cannot be changed)
Proxy Setting: Enable
Proxy Address: 66.209.11.32
Proxy Port: 80
Proxy Username: WAP@CINGULAR.COM
Proxy Password: CINGULAR1
MMS
-------------
Profile Name: MEdia Net
NAP Selection: VFJP Network (this cannot be changed)
Proxy Setting: Enable
Proxy Address: 66.209.11.61 (I also tried 66.209.11.32)
Proxy Port: 9201 (I also tried 80)
Proxy Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Proxy Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC Address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
These settings supposedly have worked for other people, but they don't for me. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong, and if it can be fixed? I'm suspicious of the hard-coded NAP as being the culprit, but I'd like a bit of confirmation on that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never mind, I figured out the answer myself. I searched for hours on the internet, but for some reason posting on an internet forum has granted me clarity.
For anyone else in a similar situation, here's what you have to do.
1. Go into Settings->Network Settings->Internet
2. Add a new network connection, and edit it
3. Use the following settings:
Profile Name: MEdia Net (doesn't really matter)
APN: wap.cingular (this really matters)
Auth. Type: PAP
Auth. Username: <blank>
Auth. Password: <blank>
Now set the MMS and Browser NAP settings to use this new NAP that you just made.

Were your mms and browser settings blank or did you use the ones listed?

I used the ones listed, except for the NAP Selection field, which should be set to the newly-created "MEdia Net" profile (or whatever you choose to name your profile).

Still not connecting, which ports did you use and proxy?
Posted by: froobly
It's just like I had it in the first post.
For Browser/Java, the proxy is 66.209.11.32 on port 80.
For MMS, the proxy is 66.209.11.61 on port 9201.
If this doesn't work, I don't know what to try. Maybe we've got different firmware revisions or something.
