Scheduled to launch in January

Posted by: CcAgan

Oh, cool. I just ordered a new battery for my v3c, I guess that can get me by until then.

Posted by: frumdogg

Will the 700w launch in January as well?

700w, or 700wx? If Alltel doesn't launch with the 700wx, I'm jumping ship to Sprint.

Posted by: cmatthews

I was told it will be the 700wx.

Posted by: N4DOG

It will be awhile before I upgrade to 700wx

Posted by: cmatthews

If it should turn out to be the 700w instead of the 700wx, I think I'll just wait for the Q or the 700p.

Posted by: XchrisX1983X

Q first, then 700w, then p

Actually 700w first (december), then the 700p and Q in January. No official launch date on the Q yet.

Are you saying there is an official launch date for the other two?

Yes, there is

And those dates would be...?

How about this then, on what date can the release date be let out of hat?

Posted by: urboyJ

I highly doubt Scott Ford is reading this...I honestly don't think there is an actual release date. I just wanted to know because I'm considering Sprint and the information on smart phones might help me make a more educated decision...I mean I have been an Alltel customer since 1996...

Posted by: XchrisX1983X

i must have read it wrong.. i'm not supposed to know anyway... my fault

Posted by: XchrisX1983X

anyhow, if anyone is looking for a new toy, i want to trade my ppc6700 for a treo 650... if ya cant wait for new toys

I doubt Scott Ford is reading this as well, but Alltel corporate security IS reading it. Considering that Alltel gives you access to their voice/data network and sprints voice/data network including EVDO soon for cheaper than sprint sells it themselves, would you actually switch to sprint? Personally the fact that alltel customers can data roam on sprint and verizon makes me believe that alltel has the most data coverage of any carrier.

If you walk into an alltel store and ask when the 700p will be released the response will be "i dont know." The fact that it has been widely posted on this board that the 700p will be released in January should be sufficient to help you decide if you want sprint or not.

There is in fact an actual release date and its known throughout alltel right down to the store level. Most of us like our jobs and have no intention of getting fired just because you have been a customer since 1996. Dont take it personal

Whoa buddy I'm not trying to start a flame war. I like Alltel and recommend them to a lot of people all the time who are looking for a cellular carrier. I just hate the fact that they release phones so late. The state of the matter is when people on here (not just you) act as if they know something and then choose to play coy about it. I think that if someone doesn't want to completely divulge the information in which they claim they possess then they should keep it to themselves. This was just like someone did not too long ago on here or either Allwirelesstalk. Someone stated that the new V3m was going to have a feature that wasn't included with the Verizon and Sprint version and then teased people with little clues and hints of information. I mean, if you know something...say it. I didn't bring up how long I had been an Alltel customer to be pretentious and to make people think that since I had been a Alltel customer that long that I deserve the information. I simply stated that to let people know that I have been with Alltel for a long time and that I would hate to leave, but given Alltel's backwoods mentality with releasing new features and equipment I guess I am left with no other choice but to seek a more innovative carrier. You seem like a high strung person from what I've gathered from other threads in which you have commented so I have no intention to partake in anymore discussions with you, but do know that your impertinent remarks have helped me in my decision making process.

Alltel released the cdma razr before Verizon & Sprint. They released the KRZR and the Blackberry 8703 at the same time as Verizon and Srint. Alltel has some handsets that other carriers dont have like the LGAX355 and the LGAX490 with the fastap keypad.

Many people find the information on these boards helpful and appreciate what little information can be shared.

Alltel has some of the most competitive plans available. Alltels data products are cheap in comparison and cover a huge amount of the country, including the "backwoods." Try using your Sprint Treo 700 at old faithful. Yes it will be roaming on Alltel.

You have so far called me a liar and "high strung". I am neither. If you base your decision about carriers on those assumptions then go for it. If you stick to the facts then you will see that Alltel has alot to offer. You might have to wait a couple extra months for a treo700 but for me it would be worth the wait.

Can't we all just get along??

In all seriousness, I think the reason that Alltel doesn't like to drop dates is because things like this happen. How many times have so many phones got pushed back further and further?

I've been looking for the 700wx since September when it was released by Sprint. I started emailing CS on a regular basis trying to get some info. I have been told the entire range of things from Mid-October to 1st quarter next year. All from Alltel employee emails.

This did cause me very much frustration, but I then started to look at how I love Alltel's service. Just the other day, I with a Suncom user and a Nextel user. They didn't have service. Period. I had almost full signal. When good is a Smart phone if it doesn't work??

Alltel may be slow on releasing the phones that we all want, but (in my neck of the woods) their service and signal strength are second to none.

So... Alltel I will wait. You have the service that I will not leave, and I know that you are getting the phone that I want, even if that has a big EVENTUALLY stuck in front of it. But hurry it along... My T720 needs a vacation. Please. Thanks.

Oh - If you release the 700w and not the wx, I have lost all faith in you and your "testing".

Looks like you can keep the faith. All of the training literature that came today clearly has an 'x' after the 'w'.

cclay25 - I have I told you that I love you lately - **No Homo**

Oh and a kind of sideways question....

About how long after training materials are received, is the phone released?? In general.. I mean...

It varies alot. Ive seen info a couple months in advance to a couple weeks after we actually get the phone.

Credit for the Treo 700wx launch date goes to Bolthead over at All Wireless Talk...

Great!!!

Now, any idea of a price with a 2-yr contract?

Posted by: crazycell

I was on the line with BB Tech Support this afternoon. I asked him about the 12/7 date for the 700wx and he said "the little birdie that told you that information is right on".

I asked if non-contract price would be around $ 600.00 and he said yes (I always purchase w/o contract). He mentioned that there will be $ 50.00 rebate on the phone which would put it around $ 450.00......I am guessing that would be with a 2 yr. contract (Verizon is currently $ 499.99 for a 2 yr. w/ a $ 100.00 rebate = $ 399.99).

Sounding sweeter after every post, now if the the 7th would hurry up and get here.

and as usual...Alltel is the LAST Carrier to bring in the Q. Cingular has the new Blackjack, and should be getting the Q soon. Sprint is getting the NEW BLACK Q, as is V, but Alltel is d r a g g i n g their darn feet!

Whats the difference between the W and the WX? I looked on Palm's site and according to their feature matrix the only difference is that the WX can't do MMS messages? That doesn't seem right..

Originally the W had much less memory when Sprint decided to carry it they wanted more meory, hence the WX, but I here that the W now has the same amount of memory. There may be other differences but that's the only thing I know of. As for the MMS, Verizon allows smartphones to use MMS and as far as I know Sprint adn Alltel do not, but the is a hack for using MMS on some Sprint smartphones.

Posted by: MjWc

It will be the 700wx. Saw that it was ordered for our store yesterday!

Posted by: overbyc1

The WX has 64mb of operating RAM. The W only has 32mb. Verizon is the only carrier with the W and rumor has it they are dropping the W and getting the WX.

The W has shown to be an unstable device if you do anything with it other than use JUST what comes with it... It seems that Palm doesn't list the difference, or even fess up to it, they know they made a mistake with the W and its low amount of memory. The minimum amount of RAM that should ever be used with a Windows mobile device is 64mb. The WX has this and has shown to be a very stable device, even with a ton of software loaded on it.

You can find a million tons more info on Treos at www.treocentral.com This difference has been discussed over and over..

How much will the 700 and Q be ? I really want the Q so i hope that it comes out in december and not january.....

Posted by: overbyc1

Stopped by my local Store today and guess what????.... I got to hold an Alltel Treo 700wx!!! They had their demo unit in and let me play around with it. I was surprised that Alltel doesn't have a logo on the front of the unit, just on the rear battery door. I was told it was due for release in "the next week or two." He wouldn't give me a date, or a price structure for that matter. But it was sweet, and nice to know that its around the corner.

Posted by: allexnmb

I know there is software to allow you to send pics via mms. But is there one for Alltel yet>? I use my phone for sending pics and with out that available not sure if would switch to alltel. Any one know of this software for alltel
