NEW AMP'D Hollywood firmware available!! E816_X_2.5.0R

So, out of curiosity tonight, I checked the Motorola Software Update page and downloaded their SU program after seeing the e816 listed in the supported devices.

Ladies and gents, I'm proud to present to you, fresh from Motorola themselves, version E816_X_2.5.0R!!

I took the liberty of copying all of the files (including the flash, obviously) that the program unpacked while it was updating. For your convenience, I have included the link to where you can download this likely useful firmware:

http://www.mysharefile.com/v/239814...2.5.0R.rar.html

I hope this will be of great use to those who are trying to crack the mystery of why the Bell e815 f/w won't load onto a Verizon phone, yet it loads perfectly on the e816. In addition to the flash itself, I have also included the unpacked .shx (includes the CG2 file).

This might also enable those who flashed the Hollywood to switch back to the Amp'd firmware need they return the phone under warranty for any reason. I should probably point out that I have two e816s. I loaded this firmware onto the NON-Bell-flashed phone, so I have no idea if using this firmware will work in flashing from Bell. Any guinea pigs?

In any case, ENJOY!

Wow! This is great. Won't have time to check it all out till later tonight but that is very exciting Thanks!

The MSU is quickly transforming the landscape for us!

I tried this firmware on an Alltel flashed Verizon e815.
It results in the phone going into Bootloader mode instantly on reboot, just like the Bell flash.

I flashed mine to the new firmware, it still boot up with the Verizon GPS page. When clicked on the Java icon, it took me to a brew page with a shopping cart and others icons on. Pretty interesting. Now it says Amp'dMobile instead of Verzion Wireless on the outside display.

Just as a quick aside, evade, you should maybe now update your Amp'd to Bell tutorial to include a link to the Amp'd firmware, as there is indeed now a way to go back.

Some random observations:

1. The 2742 seem from the new flash does not have OBEX or Transflash copy/move enabled. I'm not sure if the original firmware did, though. I thought it did, maybe I'm wrong.

2. The flash itself doesn't reset the lifetimer. When I flashed my other e816 (the non-Belled phone), the lifetimer was unchanged. HOWEVER, after flashing back from the Belled phone, the lifetimer was reset to 00:00:00. I found that kinda weird.

3. The flash doesn't overwrite the mma_ucp files.

The Bell FW includes no flex_file.s component.
The Ampd FW does.

Wait... is this consistent? Logicaly, if the timer is stored in the flex, my guess would have been that the Ampd FW would always reset it, and the Bell FW wouldn't.

That might make sense. The reason it didn't reset the lifetimer when I flashed the e816 with its proper firmware was because it already had the Amp'd flex on it. BUT, if the Bell f/w has no flex component, then that rules out the possibility that the new Amp'd flash overwrote the Bell flex, thus resetting the lifetimer. That, then, leaves a question: How did the lifetimer get reset on the Bell'd phone?

Anyone tried this FW on an e816?

This is so AWESOME! I cant wait to get off of work and try this out on my e816.. my phone just recently started to act stupid with a bunch of features freaking out and needing tons of restarts. I really hope this fixes most of the problems... Does anyone know what the update consists of? I dont see anything on the Moto site that states it. Maybe it will say once I d/l it. Looks like all you guys are using e815's so Ill post what I find out about me e816, if there is even any difference.

Hi all, this is my first post. Sorry I'm a noob...

Just got an Amp'd Hollywood/e816. The firmware on my phone is E816_X_1.4.0R.

Does anyone know the differences between the E816_X_1.4.0R firmware and the latest firmware, E816_X_2.5.0R? What are the pros/cons of updating?

(I haven't made any f/w or seems mods yet.)

I've since sold my e816s, but I don't remember there being any noticeable difference. That said, actually, I didn't notice ANY differences. But, to be fair, I never really ever used the Amp'd firmware, I flashed to Bell within minutes of opening the package.

Hopefully somebody who has used the original Amp'd firmware and has since flashed to the new firmware can be of more help.

Question for Evade:

I have Amp'd Mobile e816. I haven't done your tutorial, but I did activate it with VZW using my ESN and VZW's online equipment change. I have cell service and TXT messages working.

I'm running E816_X_1.4.0R as I previously posted. I want to try and keep the amp'd interface. I've been able to edit a number of seems and I've unlocking most of the stuff I want on the phone. I also setup a proxy using Hottproxy, and tested it and I'm sure it works on the PC end.

I can't get wap to work on the cellphone. I can't change the host settings. It seems like there are two browsers on this phone: one is the novarra one which is accessible by making a link in the drafts folder and also is accesible through the amp'd mobile interface, the other is the VZW browser which comes up using the custom web session I made (##Browser).

In novarra I can't change the host - it literally skips over the setting and will not select it! The vzw browser gives me a "For wireless internet services, please dial *611" error, despite that I set it with my hottproxy address.

Help!

I run into the same problem, I am able to go back and load the original fw no problem though, I was just kinda hoping to make this into an e815.

Hey guys, im new here to the forum, ive registered in anything like this, but i have a problem with my e815,... i did something wrong flashing it. This is what i did: My E815 was alltel, i First flashed it with AmpīD firmware so that i can then flash with Bell firm, but it gave me an error (something with a ĻuĻ) during the flash, then i flashed back to Verizon monster firm which worked perfectly, then i flashed it with Alltel Monster to put it back as it was with Bluetooth enable, but it was never successfull. Everytime i try to flash it with any monster file for E815 it never finishes, for example: i start flashing with Verizon monster file, creating image is ok, then loading the bootloader is ok, but when its copying the phn the phoneīs % is at 99 and in MFF or RSD is at 75% so when the phone gets to 100% it gives me an EFS ERROR, and this has happened ever since with any monster file i try to use for E815, but if i use Customer Upgrade firmware it will flash 100% successfull.... I seriously dont know wether to through out the phone and buy a new one or if it has a chance to live again, because i really like it.

Please help me. Oh and PS i have many firmwares available for E815 most monster files too, and Cust. Upgrades, Especially i have the E816 AmpīD monster file if you guys need it, ill be posting it up in a while.
