Still not getting it...MP3s on VX-9800

Ok, I think I have tried everything. V05 software on 9800. Using mini-SD I know to be working.

Still not playing MP3s. Cannot seem to get the phone to 'see' my MP3s. The phone notes that the card contains files when I go through system, then 'manage memory.'

The error message I get when I press the front "up key" is "NO SONGS FOUND IN MEMORY CARD."

I t/f files to the 'my mp3s' folder on my pc. Have also tried using WMP.

1) I have gone into the secret screen and changed the phone to "Mod + MP3" then tried "MP3 only" on someone's suggestion.

2) Tried reformatting the card several times.

3) Tried inserting mini-SD with phone on. With phone off.

Can anyone give me some additional tips to try and troubleshoot?

Thanks,

LT

make sure songs are in the my_mp3's folder on the card, put phone to MP3 only.

sorry if you already tried this.

I had the same problem, i thought it was my phone card and reformatted many times. but i took my phone to the store and they unlocked it to see the mp3's there is some setting that they don't have turned on in the phone, so the phone by default doesn't see the music on the card. I know it has to do with the phone internal settings. I would call customer care and get the exact way to do it.

I hope this helps, i know it drove me crazy too

Thanks guys.

I AM putting in My_MP3s on the SD card.

And, I think the latter poster is referring to going into the "secret" menu and turning on MP3 compatibility, which I've done. However, I suppose I could take it to the Verizon store. Maybe they will surprise me.

How do you find the secret menu? As far as the MP3's go, I just convert them to WMA and they work fine.

With the phone open just hit menu then type 000000 and you can see the secret menu.

the secert menu is the 'service menu' which has menus for feild tests and other things

on the 8100, you must set the front short cut keys to access MP3's, and this is done from the regular phone menus, I don't remember if it's in phone settings or tunes & tones.

try looking in this 9800 thread

Yep, I sure have read that thread and followed the intx. Thanks.

I had to resample all the MP3s I wanted to use. They went from 5-6MB to 40+MBs.

Sheesh. This sure ain't a substitute for the iPod. What a pain.

I used dbPowerAmp conversion software.

my mp3's are quite small , just 3 or 4 meg, I have 4meg music videos ( actually TV clips of beatles, elvis, buddy holley, and more, all from the sixties ) but they are full songs

If you've changed the settings to mp3 and mod, you dont have to convert anything. You can just put mp3's into the folder and they work fine.
