Where's the Pearl's Antenna? Issues with Usability

Finding something strange lately. I'm in an area that has good coverage, and I'm able to receive messages, etc. when in my leather case (on my belt). When I take it out of the pouch and start to type a message, I lose signal. In order to get it back, I either have to take my hand off the back of it, or put it back on the case.
I tested putting my hand on the top back part of the Pearl, and the bottom half of the back of the phone. I seem to lose the signal when holding the bottom half (?). Seems strange since you would think the antenna is at the top.
Anyone else see this type of thing?

No, but I personally had a 6710 of mine was more or less doing the same thing - I popped her open, and it turned out, somehow, the internal antenna plug was loose. I reseated it, and it work flawlessly like my other BBs.
Assuming that you just got your Pearl, you can always return it back to your SP (Service Provider). If they won't do anything, contact RIM directly - they have a one year warranty (IIRC).
Also, I do believe that the majority antenna is on the bottom - since the speaker and the camera lens is on the top portion. I say majority because on the older BBs, they ran in a loop around the case.

The antenna is actually on the bottom.
