Need to flash Razr V3C to Cricket!!!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi everyone. I am new at this.

I had spoken to a wireless company here who said they could flash a Razr V3C phone to Cricket. So, I bought her the phone, took it to them and they told me they were sorry, but couldn't flash this Razr, only the older one. Had I known this, I would have bought a GSM instead of a CDMA and added her to my cell plan. Anyone have any ideas???? Please help!

It's perfectly possible to flash a CDMA Razr, don't worry.

A Cricket flash file is available at http://www.humpa.com/vzw. Download it. Next, you'll need to find Motorola PST 7.2.3. Google for it, we're not allowed to give links. Install PST and run the patch for it.

Now, go to the V3c Alltel flash wiki (search HoFo for it) and follow the instructions in the first part (about flashing). Ignore the rest.

Your V3c should now be flashed for Cricket, but Cricket data services like MMS messaging probably won't be working. Go check in the Cricket forum in the regional providers section and see if someone can give you the settings for these things.

Hi. Thanks for your help. I am a little lost though. I downloaded the Cricket flash file, but I cannot install it. It is giving a message that windows doesn't know what program created it. I downloaded Motorola PST 7.2.3. It detected the Razr. Is that all for the Motorola part?

Follow the "Flashing" section of the Alltel V3c flash wiki (the basic process of flashing is the same no matter what carrier's flash file you're using). It's located here: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index....ser_Int erface.

Sorry for the delay. I've tried to do this. I cannot open the Altell flash folder, but am not able to. Windows is telling me it needs to know what program created it. I am so frustrated. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

are you double clicking the flash file itself? Don't. Get/open RSD Lite 2.7 and plug in your phone. It should detect it and then within RSD click the box with the "..." on it and then select the flash file. The select start and your flashing your phone.

I did get the RSD Lite 2.7, plugged in my phone, but it won't detect it.

I got it flashed! Thank you guys so much. You are awesome!!!!

Ok. Didn't work. It partially flashed. Everything is Cricket, but you try to dial out and it goes to a Verizon message. I have tried several times to reflash, but nothing. I also get stuck on the last part when it says to manually reboot. I reboot and it doesn't recognize anything. It keeps saying reboot. Please help.

That's just how CDMA flashes are. The firmware files we have just contain the flash, and carrier settings (like what network your phone is on) are stored in the flex. You're going to need to call Cricket to get your service switched to them, and then you're going to need to change some settings. You should probably go check in the Cricket forum for those.

As for the reboot thing, I'm not sure. Sorry.

Is it possible to get a Verizon V3M working with cricket without flashing and losing the T-Flash/Media functions?

Posted by: bluefire24

Partially, I think. I believe the Verizon UI makes it difficult to change the phone's settings to work with another carrier. You'll probably be able to get voice and text messages to work, but I'm not sure you could get BREW (what is Cricket's BREW called, anyway?), Mobile Web, and MMS working.

Well with PST I beleive there is an option to change that. Not sure, I was messing with it today.

Do you know where I can find a guide?

I did switch my service to Cricket. They recognize it calling in as Cricket, but calls going out go to Verizon. The rebooting thing is working now. It says pass.

CTW: You can definitely use PST to change BREW settings and "rebrand" your phone's BREW to a different carrier's system...if your phone has Motorola's default UI. I'm honestly not sure if you could do this with the Verizon UI, seeing as how Get It Now is so closely integrated into it.

deegadoo: Have you done an over-the-air activation yet? (I'm assuming Cricket uses the same system as Verizon, which is dialing *228 and then selecting option 1.)

Yes, I have tried the activation. It goes to Verizon activation. There has got to be a way to do this.

You can load Cricket firmware on the Verizon platform, but that will cause other issues. Unlike GSM handsets, the full flash is not available so your phone will lose some functional aspects like internet and picture messaging (unless you got lucky).

As for calling Verizon, that is because the PRL (Perferred Roaming Lists) are loaded as part of the Monster file (again, not available) and are not changed with the firmware you flashed. You will need the Cricket PRL and upload it to the phone.

You should be able to get both the PRL file and the websession settings for MMS and mobile web from another Cricket V3c user.

##74366 clear clear or menu menu is the long programming for the razr. usually 000000 gets you to nam programming you then enter your phone number as mdn and hopefully the same number for min. The min can be obtained by calling cricket. Alot of the times *228 doesn't work for programming a flashed phone, hence the long programming method.
